It's ok LC1 lovers, we're taking it back.

A slight topic deviation, since this seems pretty well covered.

Is anybody familiar with the relatively new wideband system that Autometer sells? http://autometer.com/cat_gaugedetail...earch&gid=3710

The specs on it are quite odd. The analog output, for instance, is 0-4v?

ApexOnYou 11-07-2008 12:33 AM

I think that came out a year or two ago, but I have never actually seen anyone use it. Seems like a UEGO with recall.

Stein 11-07-2008 02:14 PM

I just bought a UEGO for $220 shipped. NIB with full warranty. He has two more at that price. PM me for his email address if you are interested.

Can't say that I have ever used or even seen this one before. 0-4v is kinda odd. I'd think that would reduce the resolution slightly. On the other hand I have used and installed a lot of Autometer products and never had a single issue aside from their tachs having an error window of about + - 400rpm. Looks like it runs about $350.00 from your normal mailorder places. I haven't looked at the ms config yet, is there a unversal o2 with the right voltage window to make it work or is that something that one would have to write some software for?

Joe Perez 11-08-2008 10:22 AM

I wouldn't call it software writing per se, but you'd have to come up with a working formula for it and put it into the lambdasensors.ini file.

I just found it interesting that this particular model seems to have snuck onto the scene nearly a year ago and yet I've heard nothing of it. For the money (relative to AEM & Innovate) I doubt I'd be the one to try it first.

+ 1 Uego. I have had one for a few months. It works great. I have nothing to compare it to. But I have no complaints, no calibrating, plug it up, wire it up and go.

dynokiller90 11-08-2008 03:26 PM

I was thinking the same thing about being the first to use it. especialy since I still have newb status with the mega squirt systems and wouldn't even know where to begin in making an ini.file. I can tell you this though; if you ever had any issues with it, Autometer stands behind their products and wouldn't make you jump through all kinds of hoops to get get them resolved. Unlike innovte.

NGK Powerdex AFX Air/Fuel Monitors - JEGS

here's another one that nobody seems to be aware of. if you click on the directions link you can see it has a 0-5v analog output. the directions are eerily similar to the lc-1 but written much better. I'm not sure if innovate manufactures it for them, but at least there is no firmware to be corrupted. the calibration process is done with a small knob on the back of the control unit.

That above and it came with a gauge for a total of 225.00 shipped. I received it in 22 hrs. I was shocked.

What's the best place to order the UEGO from? After the discrepancy I saw between the LC1 and the dyno's AFR I'm considering the AEM unit.

N3v 11-20-2008 02:49 PM

I got mine on ebay for a steal, I think 225 shipped, NIB, plastic wrapped, warranty, and all.

dynokiller90 11-22-2008 10:34 PM

So I just got around to installing my UEGO. took me all of about ten minutes and it works flawlessly. The guage and the display in MT. are dead nuts equal too. didn't have to tweak the ini. file or anything. now I can finaly get around to some real tuning instead of spending hours on the phone with tech guys trouble shooting bad products. I have to admit that I did get LC-1 #2 working, but only halfway. never did get the outputs to put out any signal, nor could I program the output voltages.

live and learn I guess. although the innovate stuff is supposed to be better and faster responding and blah blah blah, from my experience with them thus far never again. So hats off to AEM for putting out a product that's user friendly and actualy works. No fuss, no muss.

By the way Joe thanks. I read in another thread about using the 5v output from the megasquirt harness to test the input. good bit of diagnostic thinking there.

Joe Perez 11-23-2008 12:32 AM

Well, congrats on getting it up, and being the one guy lucky enough to have the calibrations match out of the box. That was really the only reason I ditched my AEM- I never could get the MS to agree with it consistently. It's almost like the degree of error on the analog output changed in magnitude with some variable that I was never able to discover.

But I will say that installing the LC1 / XD16 has been a pleasant experience, and so far is working wonderfully. When I got the units, I set 'em up on the workbench so I could test & configure prior to installing on the car. It helped greatly to understand the logic behind which serial cable goes where, which end needs the termination, etc. It's all documented, but not all in one place. At any rate, I'm surprised you had so many problems with yours. I was really impressed with the build quality and apparent ruggedness of the unit, so much so that I didn't have any qualms about mounting the LC1 itself to the side of the PPF so I didn't have to cut & extend the sensor cable.

dynokiller90 11-23-2008 12:09 PM

I think I just had some serious bad luck with innovate stuff. I wonder if they had a bad run off of the production line? I did get both of them localy from the same store. they do have a good reputation so I won't bad mouth them to much. I have one sitting in the garage now that won't put out a signal to megasquirt, but I'll probably set it up as a workbench tail pipe sniffer. just to have a control, so I can make sure that things don't go awry with the AEM
