only if you are controlling fuel and spark. The ecu would have no way of stopping it then.

Interesting question. How does MS set the rev limiter?

When you reach a RPM limit set by you MS will cut fuel and or spark. There is a menu just for this.
Download megatune and check it out.

I just wanted to make sure a non standalone install like mine would be able to do it.

you cant install ms in any other way but as a standalone. parallel is very different from piggyback.

Al, isnt it possible to have megasquirt control fuel while the stocker controls timing? That would be parallel

I think he was just trying to say that MS will either "stand-alone" in that it will control fuel or spark or both all on it's own whereas a piggyback system would just alter the stock ECU outputs or take over at a given MAP/TPS signal. This allows MS to adjust the rev limit by cutting fuel or spark or both. Depending of course on what all MS is controlling "alone".

Or I have no idea what i'm talking about.

I don't think the stock ECU has much of any options left for letting its rev limiter kick in. As long as Megasquirt has control over both the injectors and ignition, the ECU can't do much of anything besides possibly throwing a check engine light.

Hmm if they're from hell, they're probably strong, but I'd be concerned with heat cycling them.

That's the only problem with them. You can never turn the engine off, they run so hot that they diesel FOREVERRRRRRR dun dun dun.
