Default Wrong MAP Reading

Hey,

I have an MS1 and 1.6 engine. With key on and laptop hooked up my ecu reads 89kpa for the initial atmospheric pressure reading but where i live its more around 101kpa on average. Why is ecu reading wrong? Also what should my boost gauge show at this time, its digital so i can see number.

Some more info, i have the ecu map line tee'd into FPR and also another tee in this line to my boost gauge. Since these two run off same line should they not read the same, for example boost gauge will show -18 vac at idle and ms shows -19, and its always like this it always shows 1 higher. Thanks in advance for any info!

Maybe you need to calibrate your map sensor in TS. You might have the wrong sensor selected.

I have the right map sensor selected. What else could it be?

What is the reported MAP idling? And at what rpm/afr/advance?

Idle is 22kpa, 900 rpm, low 13 AFR and 17 degrees. If i decrease timing to 10 degrees idle kpa goes to 28-30 and idle valve adjust for air flow to maintain 900 rpm.

Idle at 17deg should be 28-32kpa or so. Your reading is low across the board. Sounds like your calibration is wrong or, possibly but unlikely, your sensor is whack.

You have likely selected the wrong sensor and may not have what you think you have. If it doesn't read around 100 when off then it is incorrect.

I selected 250kpa in project properties and under engine constants for map type. Not sure what else i could do.

Tools -> calibrate MAP/baro
Select "MPX4250" under "Common MAP sensors" as per MS manual.

Dont have that option with MS1. After reading some more about this, i guess its not totally uncommon of an issue. People say that as long as my reading is consistent, which it appears to be then i should be fine since my tune was set based on these values.

MS1?
I have an MS2 daughterboard I can sell for cheap. At least come into the 90s and go MS2. MS1 is just old and sad....

I had someone mention this mod to me before. But i don't know what needs to be done and its benefits. Can you explain to me what needs to be done for the swap, is it just swapping the small boards? What will change with my tune?

I have a 90-93 MS1 3.57, this compatible with it? How much did you want for it?

Thanks in advance for your help!

To learn about the differences between different families of MS, see Joe's summary:
https://www.miataturbo.net/megasquir...wcomers-81522/

If it was me, I wouldn't even bother with MS2 upgrade- I'd go straight to MS3. That's why I have the MS2 card sitting here.
PM me if you're interested in buying my MS2 daugtercard.

The following statements are made without me having any direct experience aver doing this, so definitely no guarantees:
- All you need to do to go from MS1 to MS2 is to remove the main chip from the board and replace with the MS2 daughtercard
- Your tune is somewhat transferable from MS1 to MS2,
- You won't be able to upload the tune directly, since MS2 has some differences from MS1
- I'd upload your tune for you to the MS2 card. But I won't be able to test it in a car
