That does not look likle supertech to me or 8:1... But then again i'm not an "expert"....

Edit: Go get your money back. you have picture evidence right there they didn't install what they told you. Can anyone say fraud? Get your money and then give that motor to someone reputable and let them do it right. then you can stop pulling your hair out and get this ---- under control.

I am pretty sure pistons are supertech. Here is the barely visible logo.

You guys are really quick to come to conclusions here.

Got both heads back. Had the good head resurfaced ( not belt sanded), cleaned and vacuum tested. The head that was leaking was inspected and seals were replaced. I was told it looked ok, and they cant see anything in the head causing the exhaust seals or guides to leak. The wear on the guides is so minimal that there would never be enough oil to cause smoking.

The guys at the head shop are convinced its the rings one way or the other. They either thing rings were installed incorrectly or one is cracked causing high crank case pressure and vc pressure. Another theory was that the oil might not be draining down from the head back into the bottom end properly which can cause pooling of oil around the the seal.

So there is still no clear reason for the oil consumption. Apparently the engine builder talked to the owner of the head shop and told him that i am bad mouthing him. Which is not really the case because i have not even said the name of the shop still. But they are both theorizing that maybe 500 miles is not enough for the seals to seat. I heat cycled the car multiple times. With 10 consecutive 1500rpm to about reline and back down coasts. So that should have seated the rings if not previous 300+ miles.

Putting the head back on tomorrow. So we'll see how that works out.

Well, the good head is back on the motor and so far so good. No smoking at all. Did a few boost pulls, and long stretches of deceleration. And no smoking at all. Let the car idle for about 2 min and no smoke when hitting the throttle. I reverted back to totally stock pcv system as well. So now I just have to put some miles on it and see what happens.

Keeping my fingers crossed.-

Btw this is a good shot of cylinder walls. Cross hatch does not look too good to me and there are some scratches. But I am no expert.-

Cylinder doesnt look good to me. But if its not smoking, and compression is good, then.......

Rushin 07-01-2012 11:37 PM

Yeah two of the cylinders looked pretty rough and cross hatch is not consists at all. Looks like somebody took a drill with sand paper and just used that.

About 60 miles after new head and it's still looking ok no smoke at idle or deceleration. I think I can still smell it when I pull up to stop lights but no visible smoke when I pull away like it used to be. I am back to stock pcv system as well so hopefully that will help with pressure in valve cover.

Good deal!

Rushin 07-20-2012 11:22 PM

Update: still running, no smoke that I can tell. Stock pcv is working well too. Upped the boost to about 15 psi.

so lets get back to the topic at hand, water and meth...jk

glad it's running well

Fireindc 08-14-2012 11:30 AM

Nice, glad to hear it. Videos of the beast?

Rushin 04-18-2013 11:38 AM

Still running well. No issues so far. The car does sell a bit of oil when accelerating but no smoke anywhere.
