Who's going to be the first here to try pre-compressor injection?

3whp gain on 610. No thanks. Not worth the damage potential.

That's also the first time Aquamist attempted it, too. There are other threads with more recent examples of people getting better gains.

WI pre turbo, that's a no-no. It'll erode the heck out of the impeller. A supercharger doesnt' suffer the same since it spins at, what, like 5 times lower rpm.

wouldn't it just be easier to run nitrous at that point?

The impeller erosion would be minimized or done away with altogether when using these:

But, yes, the gains are not nearly as impressive as with pre-blower injection on a positive-displacement supercharger.

I dont know why you would run WI pre compressor, since its just going to compress the air and heat it up all over again.

Added mass in the charge? I dunno. The more water you have in the charge, the less room you have for air.

yeah not to mention the rust factor as it settles in the crossover pipe or IC.

You have another point, water accumulation in the IC. If the turbo were non-IC then maybe, but with an IC in the plumbing, WI pre turbo is just a bad idea. Plus water is not compressible, and a turbo is a compressor, so you are giving up air mass for water. A positive displacement supercharger is not a compressor, it is just an air pump, so the WI is not being compressed. WI with an Eaton blower also helps seal the rotors to the case a little bit. On a turbo, WI should only be injected post IC.

Hey, magna, remember that guy, Brian, who went by the handle "bripab007" and started this thread? Well, he and I are one in the same.

My account is busted...don't know how or why, but it no longer works. E-mailed Phil about fixing it or, if not, deleting the old account so I can just use this one with the same e-mail address as before, but haven't heard back yet.

Man, I forgot you can't even send PMs w/o 10 posts! Yeesh...I think I'll kinda miss being instantly recognized as an "old-timer," though, should I move forward with this account :(

So, back on topic, in case you hadn't guessed yet (I guess you didn't open the initial thread hyperlink in Aquamist's forum?), you can see that the gold-colored circular thingy is indeed a bracket for holding a water injection nozzle pre-impeller.

Another reason not to go cheap on intercooler plumbing.

I really can't imagine water settling in the crossover pipe...or even intercooler, for that matter. I mean, you're typically not injecting any water until a couple PSI, right?

Surely driving around for a few seconds in vacuum or light boost would be enough suck up any residual water in the crossover pipe, and the vast majority of any stuck in the intercooler.

Nothing would settle but you would still get light surface corrosion in mild steel pipes.

Yeah, you're right. Didn't think about that.
