I'd like to sell this locally in the Balt-DC-VA area unless you're willing to make a road trip. I don't have the shifter unfortunately, just the bare trans.

$500.

Exactly what I'm looking for. I'd take it for sure, but that's an 11-hour trip one way...

Well, unless someone is coming down to Atlanta from that region and can pick it up for me and bring it closer, I'm making the trip.

Figured it would be more convenient for myself and the seller if I just went and picked it up since we both have no experience with shipping larger items. I was going to VA this weekend anyway to see my brother who is home for a little while from Iraq, but the Army just decided they wanted to see him too. :(
On the other hand, it gives me and the g/f a reason to get out of town for the weekend and maybe even look around D.C. a little. She's always wanted to just go there.

Well if you're not going up to see family anymore, do consider shipping it. It will fit in a 48x15x15 box w/o the shifter installed. You want to be sure to pack it up tightly so that it does not move. Small cardboard boxes around the turret works well. I ship miata manual transmissions all the time. A 6 speed to DC area would cost me on the order of 35 minutes + $60 for freight + $5 or so in supplies.

I have shipped a few as well. I recently shipped a 1.6 rear diff for a whopping $26 with fedex ground. I'm sure the tranny wouldn't be much more than $50.

Hmmm... I think that the seller and I may have to discuss this at greater length then...

It's just a matter if he wants to muscle it around to pack it up, but it's not that hard.

Maybe I should pick this up and have a second 6-speed just in case...
