Not trying to **** on thread but,

How was it prepped prior to paint? I would hate to see it ruin an engine like mine did after I had it painted...

How did you paint your valve cover?

My powdercoater always uses a base coat.

He's referring to whether or not the cover was blasted. And then how it was cleaned afterwards.

Meh. Scrub it with soap and water and a plastic bristle brush after disassembling the baffling then rinse everything well. Shouldn't be a problem afterward.

exactly shooter thanks.

The going cost of a dirty 99 miata valve cover is going for 75$ to 100$ right now and a powder coated one is over 200$. In my opinion the valve cover alone in its condition is way below the market value. On top of that, every time I sell something the buyer gets freebies from me most of the time.

Where are the sparkles and silica - can you please identify it. I had my cover also Powder coated and then washed with soap and water but not not use a brush and perhaps should have. Now that you pointed this out, I am slightly paranoid and thinking to pull the cover off again and give it another bath. However, would be helpful to spot what you are seeing.
