Please put me in line. Do these come with the speedo gear?

99mx5 07-11-2017 01:57 AM

Just the ring and pinion. you can use a yellowbox to calibrate the speedo. https://yellr.com

That doesn't work on NAs though, does it?

There is not an off the shelf NA 3.63 speed sensor. You can supposedly build one out of various parts, but I have never actually seen anyone do it.

fredb 07-14-2017 12:58 AM

I believe this was the parts list I used from the other Miata site a couple of years ago when I built my drive . I was able to get everything on the list through my local Mazda dealer at a reasonable price. I don't know if all the parts are still available or not. Good luck. Fredb
Speedo Parts:
M502-17-441 (20 tooth gear molded onto shaft)
1011-17-442A (aluminum sleeve that's offset for the smaller dia 20 tooth gear)
9922-20-214 (small roll pin to lock shaft and gear into sleeve)
9958-60-8166 (internal oil seal for shaft to sleeve)
1110-17-443 (o-ring to seal sleeve to transmission)

The above aluminum sleeve comes bare, so the pin, internal oil seal, and o-ring are necessary if you don't want to take them from the old speedo gear sender assembly. At minimum you should buy the internal oil seal, it's difficult to remove w/o damaging it.

You rock, dude! I was able to find everything except the last o-ring online for about $50. I should be able to get one locally the right size or re-use what I got.
