Carbon Fiber Hardtop for sale/trade @ Northern VA
I got this hardtop a couple years ago after answering an ad on m.net. The seller turned out to be an employee of chaser. He wanted to sell ($1250) it to fund a turbo project - I convinced him to trade it to me with a godfather offer - my oem hardtop, R package front and rear lower lips, oem ducktail spoiler, and a bunch of turbo parts.
I've read accounts of Chaser hardtops being ill fitting (the example I saw was an S2000 top) but this one has no such problems, it fits as well as the several OEM tops I have had. I don't know if being a chaser employee, he cherry picked a good one or what, but it fits brilliantly. Has full rubber seals, front and side latches.
The top has two imperfections, one of which is completely reversible - first is a few small scratches between the passenger window and the rear window, as shown in the picture. I had to take pictures up close to get them to show up. The second issue is that on the lower left corner of the lexan rear window, there is a cloudy section about the size of a CD. The seller had a bunch of stickers on the window, and not being a stickerbomb kind of guy, I removed them all. There was some residue from a sticker that wasn't coming off, so I tried goof off. Mistake. The goof off reacted with the lexan and hazed it up. I bought a ginormous sheet of lexan from lowes for $50 to make a new window, that will come with the top. Making a new window will be easy - remove the existing one, lay it on the new lexan sheet, trace it, cut it out, install, done.
I've really loved this top. The reason I'm looking to change is that I've been spending the winter rebuilding my NA with more of a retro theme, which carbon fiber doesn't really jibe with. I've already sold a couple parts that don't fit the style. I know this is mturbo and style is for lamers but what do you want, I'm a miatafag who doesn't track.
With that in mind, I'm looking to trade for an OEM hardtop - I'm not asking for cash or other booty on top, the only concession being that the swap is done at my house, due to the fact that I have an infant that pwns my time.
Failing a trade, I'd sell outright for $975, as that is the going rate for a middle of the road OEM top in these parts. As you can see I'm not trying to gouge.
If you happen to have a white hardtop in good shape, meaning I wouldn't have to repaint it, then I'll toss in these matching (real) carbon fiber mirrors, which are another part I really liked that doesn't work with my redesign.
Just to avoid the inevitable pm's, no, I cannot, will not ship this to you, no way no how. It's quite large, I don't have the material to pack it or secure it, shipping would cost hundreds, and I just can't deal with all that. This would be a local deal only, washington DC area. I am in sterling, va specifically, irght next to dulles mall, convenient to rt7, rt28, toll road among others.

Are those the APR mirrors or some other brand?

lol thread at CR devolved into "OOOH mirrors" as well.
To repeat, when/if the mirrors are for sale, they will get their own thread. They are simply here as a sweetener to help attract the color top I am looking for.
but to answer the last question I'm hoping to see about the mirrors here,
The mirrors are the same type that Moss used to sell, which were a type of sportbike mirror, with an adapter base - I think they were $150 @ moss? When I bought the mirrors they had an adapter plate for another car, an acura I think. I made a miata adapter out of aluminum plate. They are real CF. I have seen the same size/shape around in fake cf and ABS black, with no mounting plate.
