cast manifold

Hello,

I have made a cast iron manifold which can be tapped for either T2 or a T3 turbo, I am currently discounting them in return for some feedback

I am not very good with ads so I guess i'll take questions, price shipped is 290 USD, this doesnt include paypal fees

Manifold in the photos is tapped for T2 and has had relief cuts, not in photo

Any downpipes available?

What material?

sonofthehill 06-13-2017 12:34 PM

This.
Looks nice.

Downpipes are available if I you want it for t25 t28 or volvo td04hl, will be buying more turbos as I start getting some feedback

Material is ductile iron Ni-Resist Type D5S, it has 35% nickel and its used commonly on manifolds by most car makers, believe its the same material as used on turbo exhaust housing, however the ones I tested werent made with the same alloy

Currently only 1.6s are in stock, the 1.8s had some weak points which are being addressed by changing the mold, no eta at the moment but hope to be done asap

sonofthehill 06-13-2017 12:39 PM

Very nice.

Will you be offering studs and fasteners?

concealer404 06-13-2017 12:47 PM

Pics/details/price on downpipe for TD04HL?

Kraken 06-13-2017 12:50 PM

I have spent 4000 usd on studs before and I am not planing on doing it again anytime soon. The studs, are made from inco a286 and manufactured by the same company that makes hardware for Mclaren, however they dont fit this manifold as they are too short. Believe they are used extensively in F3

Sweet. Did you try fitment with EFR? Pictures of manifold mounted?

konmo 06-13-2017 06:25 PM

very nice to see more options available. Curious on EFR fitment as well.

Looks like a really nice piece! I feel like the turbo is going to sit pretty high with this manifold right? I'm interested in seeing some pictures of it mounted.

patsmx5 06-13-2017 08:52 PM

That looks really nice. If you keep it at 290 shipped, and offer a downpipe for a fair price, this would be a great option for a lot of folks. The design looks solid, construction to match. From the pictures the gasses combine, and turn, and are pointing right at the turbo before the wall that seperates them. That way the gasses aren't fighting each other, they just hit the turbo. There are 400+ dollar cast manifolds that let the cylinders blow gasses into one another. I bet it works well, for sure better than the typical cheap cast manifolds you see that are basically a log manifold.

I would be interested in the 1.8 manifold/dp whenever you get the manifold sorted out.

Ted75zcar 06-13-2017 10:47 PM

Looks pretty good!

No relief cuts?

Edit: If you make any mold changes, some flats for EGT would be great too.

Goingnowherefast 06-13-2017 10:59 PM

Interested. How much could you make a T25 downpipe for? I can send you my SR20 T25 for sizing and fabrication if you want.

Looks very nice!!!
does it preserve ac on a 1.6l

Turbo flange center sits around 50mm higher from the middle of the exhaust ports and 40mm offset over cyl2, I am ashamed to put up photos of my crap engine bay, will try give it a clean and take some photos

I do agree with what you say and cant really expand on that until some of you guys buy one and let us know what you think, I believe I can do close to somewhere in the 360-420 bracket in the future, if they are not self sustainable I will not make them, the alloy is very expensive and shipping is around 70 usd

I suppose around 7 days until they are cast again and then another 5 days to go through heat treatment, cleaning, machining, quality control, cleaning again, 1 day to check everything 1 day to get them ready for shipping, so lets say 3 weeks more or less

They have relief cuts

Yes it does, plenty of clearance and everything is really easy to get to

sonofthehill 06-14-2017 12:04 PM

Have you seen my engine bay?

What about a less expensive alloy, perhaps ductile iron, or at least something with less nickel?
