these lines are being made locally, if there is enough interest, i will ask to see how much it would cost to get them to make it to delete the curly q

semi-inerested...although I don't want to bleed my clutch slave again.

I need stainless brake lines anyhow, and this would basically be a free clutch line if 40 people sign up.

VVVS 08-20-2009 08:57 AM

might be interested, gunna check my local hose shop first

Will the brake lines be coated?

THMotorsports Homepage has nice pricing on coated SS lines for the miata. $120 shipped and they come in a wide variety of colors... because color coordination is Supa important on a miata. My set shows up in a day or so.

disturbedfan121 08-20-2009 10:42 AM

i could use some ss brake lines. but i have all ss clutch lines already.....the one from FM and the one from advanced

Splitime 08-20-2009 10:46 AM

Seriously though guys... make SURE the lines are coated. Not just raw SS lines.

james399 08-20-2009 04:08 PM

all the lines are coated... they can make them different colors as well, but for this i'm going for the clear as it is the cheapest and most universal... they are definitely not raw stainless lines... on my way to find out what it would cost to get the longer clutch line to delete the q...

i just looked em up, are you getting a set of universal lines... the ones i saw do not come with the block for the rear, unless the stainless lines fit into te stock piece.......

update on clutch line and pictures

ok, so i went to the shop, i had taken them my stock rubber clutch line, and rubber brake lines for them to make a prototype set....

below are the pictures of the brake lines... they are dot approved stainless COATED lines... this is a direct bolt in replacement....

also the clutch line will be made to fit into the stock hardline (on the fire wall) using the stock hardware.... and the other end will go into the slave cylinder... obviously, they didn't have this made, but i can get a picture of it in the next day or two...

advanced sells the clutch line for 65 (including shipping) so if we can get enough guys, everyone will be getting the clutch line for free basically....

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...0820091457.jpg

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...820091505a.jpg

below is a shitty picture of me trying to show the coating... lol...
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...820091505b.jpg

below is a picture of the stock line, the fitting on one end will be retained, and the cable will be lengthened and the fitting changed to fit into the slave cylinder..
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...0820091530.jpg

superslow 08-20-2009 06:31 PM

count me in on this if you can get the fittings and all for the complete clutch line to slave worked out.

CRXican 08-20-2009 06:32 PM

want

gospeed81 08-20-2009 06:36 PM

Umm....yeah....definitely in if it gets to the $115 price point.

disturbedfan121 08-20-2009 08:04 PM

can you do a set w/o the clutch lines for a lil cheaper? cause i already have em.

if so put me down for 3 sets (2 local friends want in) 2 full kits, and 1 w/o clutch lines

Cococarbine3 08-20-2009 08:32 PM

Definitely count me in.

Thank you

longuyen88 08-20-2009 09:31 PM

In!

ScottFW 08-20-2009 09:41 PM

I already have stainless brake lines but I'd be in for the long clutch line that eliminates the curly-Q.

If they won't sell me a clutch line separately and you don't want the one with the kit, then perhaps we could work something out.

james399 08-20-2009 10:38 PM

the list has been updated.... disturbedfan121 is picking up three of these... so not counting gospeed81, we only need 3 more people...

get the word out there.... if we can get 20 guys locked and loaded, we can really get these out to everyone cheap!!!

CLUBROADSTER SHUT DOWN MY GROUP BUY THREAD, SINCE I AM NOT A VENDOR...

if you guys can spread the word over there, to get people in on this group buy... we can the price lower!

I am in Alberta CanadaT4P1Y8, and would like to get in on this, but I need to know about shipping. If anyone else in Alberta is interested, we could have them sent to a single address and then forwarded. USPS works best for shipping to Canada.

true, there is always that risk, i will probably never meet (face to face) the majority of the guys in on this deal...

but i'm pretty active in the miata scene down here in so-cal, and i even helped someone on this forum do a motor swap (someone who i met through this forum)... lol...

and if this works out, and i can consistantly do group buys for other items then hell yeah i'm going to be contributing to the forums... (i would have to be a major dick not too... at that point i would prolly pay to be a vendor over at cr and m.net as well... just to increase the exposure...)

dstn2bdoa 08-21-2009 04:19 PM

James has helped me trouble shoot several problems. Even coming up to Big Bear to help with my 1.8 swap. If I was in the market for some SS lines I'd give him my money.

kenzo... i can get the clutch line for you, if we hit the minimum for the group buy, it will be 35 plus 5 for shipping, and or just 35 with pick up...

hustler... i can do just the rears for you, but it will be 50 for just the rears plus 5 for shipping... again, assuming we hit the minimum of 10 guys...

since the two of you don't equal a complete set, i can't count you guys as part of the 10...

but ill put you guys down at number 11....

I guess my local shop is getting these shipped out from the place local to you.... not exactly custom made.

Mine look EXACTLY like those. Block fitting, fittings, hose ending pieces etc.....

hey splitime, did you get yours in from the website you ordered it from? did it come with the block fitting etc? how much did you pay for the 4 brake lines including shipping? did it come with a clutch line that will delete the curly q?

and, i don't understand the need for sarcasm, why are you filling my thread with your crap?

we hit the 10 guys we need to move forward with the group buy... and if we can get a few more guys we can hit the 20 mark... if you think about it, the kit is coming with a clutch line that will delete the curly q as well, so at 135, 15 bucks more than what you said you got yours for, they are able to get a clutch line that sells for 65...

everyone involved in this, is getting a good deal... 65 for the clutch line from advanced, and 120 + shipping for 4 brake lines, is still 185.... i'm getting it to everyone for at least 135 + 5 for shipping... if not less.... that is roughly a 25 percent savings in cost...

i appreciate your concern and think you raised lots of valid points, that is why i tried to show the coating on the line, etc etc...

second, i never mentioned the word custom... you did... if you go buy a set of stainless lines from any of the trusted miata vendors, you will get a set of brake lines that look exactly like the ones in my pictures...
AGAIN, THIS IS A GOOD THING, BECAUSE THAT MEANS EVERYONE IS GETTING THE SAME HIGH GRADE QUALITY LINES FOR LESS!

and if you want to be an ass about it... the clutch line is custom made because it is not a stock rubber line replacement... it will delete the curly q and go all the way down to the slave cylinder...

so to sum up...

1. these lines are being made locally, (obviously there is more than one company that will make stainless brake lines)
2. even at 135, people are still saving substantially because this is a FIVE set line... i.e. 4 brake lines and a clutch line...
3. splitime likes to hate...

edit: for every one else, the prototype clutch line will be ready monday or tuesday... so i should have a pict of it up for everyone soon...

That would mean they are custom. I can see that just the clutch line is the piece being made though, as the main components are obviously a production piece. Not all lines look the same, each company has different crimping styles/fittings/line quality etc.

Clutch lines really don't serve a purpose unless your original line has died. I honestly don't know anyone who has had theirs fail.

I just find it funny that someone that has one vouch from another low poster and "new" to the site person, is immediately a trusted resource because of a group buy on brake lines. When 120 any day of the week gets them the brake lines shipped to their door from an actual store.

And yes. I do enjoy hating. Welcome to MT.net.

I won't bother you guys anymore. Thoughts like mine obviously do not seem to matter to anyone who has paid.

It's understandable. The perk on the clutch line for me is that I won't have to deal with that dumb bracket upon r&r of the transmission.

and also James, if I don't get what I pay for, I will hunt you down. You would have to change your name, address, social security number, hair color, credit card numbers, facebook status, birth certificate, green card, music style, wife, favorite food, phone number, metronomes, driver's license, remote controls, pen and pencils, facial structure, hair style, eye color, finger nail length, shoe size, sock colors, calculator, chapstick, school, brew of coffee, handwriting, fingerprints, height, retnas, vocal box, and train of thought. And then you'd be okay. :D

i'm not lying man... these are all being made locally... lol... seriously... the only piece that isn't made locally is the block fitting for the rear, which the guy has a shit load of...... lol... if anyone is in the socal area and wants to come see the prototypes, you are more than welcome... if anyone wants to come see me, you are more than welcome... as for being a trusted mt.net resource... not there yet... but if i can continute to bring quality products to everyone for less, i hope that will be the case... and everyone has to start somewhere... i have learned quite a bit on this forum, and want to give back to the community.. is that so bad? I actually appreciate your concern and the fact you are looking out for everybody, but at the same time... I've been honest and open with all my dealings with everyone!

I have been considering getting these made at a local shop here in Orlando. Don't know if I would call it custom, but I guess it is when you are saying I need this to fit this in this length.

I would like to be added in as well, as long as the clutch line is going to run from the clutch master cylinder to the slave with no interruption. I'm 5 speed swapping my automatic 99 and this will make things a little bit easier.

hey rip racer, this is not going to go from the master clyinder to the slave cylinder... there is a hard line that attaches to your fire wall, that runs from the master cylinder to the passenger side of the car, and then the rubber line down to the curly q to the slave...

i have a clutch petal, and hardline from a 2000 miata, i can add that to the stainless lines, and ship it all... how bout 240 shipped for all of it... hard line, clutch pedal, and the stainless kit... hell, i will even throw in a good master and slave if you want it...

or contact nevlubin on the forum here, he is local to you, and parts out miatas all the time...

ripracer 08-25-2009 09:33 PM

Good try on the sale buddy, but I already have all that stuff. I was hoping you were having a complete braided line made to run from M/C to S/C.

Ill just go to my local store and get some lines made there.

im debating on this!!

lol... i wasn't trying to sell you... lol... i was trying to help you out... after all i even mentioned levnubin, who is in florida who parts out miatas... lol... unfortunately, the stainless kit, i'm having made doesn't go from the m/c to the s/c....

when you do this, let me know how it goes, i'd be interested in seeing how a stainless lines running directly from the master to the slave will work...

we are only 4 people away, and have 6 days left.... if we are off by one or two, i might be able to get the price for 20 people.... but i'd rather walk in there with 20 solid orders...

tonight was date night, so i wasn't able to pick up the clutch line... but i should be able to get it and post up a pict tomorrow... i know i am probably just as excited to see it as everyone else!

ripracer 08-26-2009 09:01 AM

Yeah I felt like I just took my GF's car to the mechanic for an oil change and they gave me a laundry list of parts that needed replacing, you know what I mean?

There probably will be one problem, b/c I'm not sure if the fittings that will thread into the SC and MC will swivel. If they are not capable of that I might end up have a little problem tighten the line all the way, but plan to thread into the slave first and then the MC, hopefully there won't be any binding and shouldn't be with that long of a line.

The reason for this is mostly aesthetic, like I said I do have everything already to do this swap, but for pure simplicity having 1 line 2 fittings sounds very basic. I plan to run Motul in my brake and clutch lines so heat shouldn't be an issue. I believe that little Q you guys are talking about is a little cooler of sorts.

The reason for this is mostly aesthetic, like I said I do have everything already to do this swap, but for pure simplicity having 1 line 2 fittings sounds very basic. I plan to run Motul in my brake and clutch lines so heat shouldn't be an issue. I believe that little Q you guys are talking about is a little cooler of sorts.

hmmm... if the line doesn't swivel, what you can do is remove the slave cylinder, tighten the line on to it, and the master cylinder, then snake the slave over and around the motor, and then in stall that last...

edit: but the part that goes into the slave should swivel...

Beat me to it. That is how I was going to do it when I looked into this before. Putting a SS line together was like 70 bux or so with fittings. I estimated about 3 feet of it running it along firewall and then down to the tunnel.
