Default FP / EP / GTL / STL Track day NA miata hoods

I'm going to get my glass guy to make up some miata hoods. These are race only (no hinge mounts) with head light covers built in (see below). Full core with a break around all 4 sides. Lighter than the stock aluminum hood & head light covers but I don't recall the weight.

Let me know if your interested. I think the price is around $350, checking on that. Pick up in redford MI or we can ship.

Sorry about the size.

Hood vents are not legal in the classes listed in the title.

As a reference point, ISC sells a 16lb one for $300 but they are in Florida for shipping...

Thanks, but I'm not selling an ISC hood...

Still working on pricing, it depends on cost of materials.

No rush on ordering, just let me know when you need one (they probably have a 2 week lead time anyway).

No vents in this but would be easy to bond one in. These are coming from a fiberglass shop so they could probably add one at additional cost - if you're serious we can work on the details.

I may send some out to the seattle area for distribution that may help some west coasters.

thanks!

Fits well - this shop does a lot of sports racer bodies (and kit car, scca prod car panels, etc)

the lip around the edge is the same size as the fender lip so it doesn't need a whole lot of setup / aligning.

I finally stopped by michigan and am getting 2 made up for myself and shipping them out to Seattle area. If you're in the PNW, get in on this free shipping! Probably running a 2 week back log right now.

Why no hinge mounts? A racecar hood needs hinge mounts more than a street car hood since its going to get opened for some sort of rush job fix more often.

Then mount the quick releases to the factory hinge side. I know a certain DP miata that did just that. Works great. Easy to open to check oil, everything is still there. But a "nope get it the F out of the way completely" is another option when real work needs to happen.

My guy is finally kicking these out.

Final weight 10#

Price bumped to $425 + $15 box charge if you want it shipped. Ballpark shipping from Redford to Jess Prather's shop was $160

Sorry about the price bump, cost of material went up (full foam core). But as a result you get a super stiff, super light hood.

Hmmm...this is tempting. I am located in Michigan as well...

I am working on fitting xenons into the turn signal areas so I was about to begin fabbing brackets to hold OE headlight lids in place, but I like this idea better!

Anyone in PNW need one? I'm shipping some out mid march & can get them to Seattle at no (shipping) charge.

How much did it cost you to have him make the hood?
I am in michigan and need a different style of hood to clear something that does not belong in the engine bay.

I have one of these hoods, and vents can be added as an option. I added hinge mounts myself. They're simple--two bolts welded to a steel plate, which I bonded to the hood via epoxy.

I still have to paint it, but the surface finish is good and the hood fits well.
