Default Mocal oil filter sandwich plate with built in t-stat

Show me an online price and I will sell it for $10 less with free shipping.

This is unused, a spare from a friend who sold his turbo miata.
I have the same exact piece in my car.

So is that the thing to have or is there an equivalent cheaper option? Just asking.
I want to go oil cooler sometime this year and don't want to skimp on it.

I think it's the one to have. Larger 1/2" ports and "true" tstat vs. my cheaper hayden version with 3/8" ports and a flat spring type tstat that IMO wouldn't work nearly as well at colder temps when it comes to warming oil.

Matt- doesn't your remote mount have additional ports on it? Most do. Thats what I'd do is get one that does (same link at RPW) so you can just screw in some cooler hoses.

nope, I got the old school version. Pre temp sensor bung.

I suppose I could run a couple tees off the line to a cooler and Tstat.

does the mocal up top:

work basically as a bypass? ie below 180 it flows in and out one side and above 180 it flows from L to R for example?

Having the t-stat built in saved me a lot of mounting effort, plus it saves 4 junctions....... (think reliability)
