Still in my garage at the moment but have several interested parties. I can add you to the list if you like? Dibs will go in order of posts in this thread (it's the only place I have it advertised) and I'll move on the the next person as soon as someone passes.

Nah, if you're going to go in order here after a few weeks of this then never mind.

Need to get something ordered right now, so I just bought a new set off AWR and I'll throw it into a box I have here. Hope one of you guys can get a hold of this great deal.

This is why when I sell stuff on the internet, your "dibs" is your cash in my paypal account.

And AWR cancelled my order after finding out they can't get the gearset. Back to the drawing board. If you feel like skipping this "dibs" stuff for a guy who can paypal you right now, lemme know. I'm trying to track down a distributor who can get a hold of the gearsets.

If you can afford to cough up 5K for a gear set magnus has a few options. Synomesh and a dog box

I'm working on tracking down one of my many motorsports friends with companies to join up with Motovicity to get them directly from Quaife. If this all falls through and the gear set has been discontinued then I might end up having to do something like a Taylor Race box.

Magnus doesn't list anything for the Miata -- he has a bunch of stuff for other cars, though. Has he done something private he hasn't listed on his site?

Damn - so these gears are out of production? Maybe they are worth more than I thought. It would be a total dick move to put them on eBay at this point and let them go to the person that wants them the most, wouldn't it?

I tested the gear ratio using the method suggested by TNTUBA in an earlier post. Based on the results (a little less than 2 1/2 rotations of the input shaft to get one full rotation of the output) I'm beginning to wonder if these are the "ratio 2" (close ratio) rather than the wide ratio.

RATIO SET 1 2.564 1.670 1.277 1.000 0.794

RATIO SET 2 2.350 1.550 1.240 1.000 0.881

No, they're not discontinued, they're just hard to get from the UK. A friend in Portland that runs a race shop can get me a set through his distributor, but they're 4-6 weeks out (they don't keep any in stock.)

It'd be a bit of a dick move, but a buyer making people wait 3 weeks waffling on paying for a "dibs" call is a dick move too. I'm guessing one of the other 4 guys in the dibs queue also has money in hand waiting, but you may want to assess that. :P

Do a lot more than one revolution to find out. Error will go down with quantity. Turn it 23 times and see if you get 9 turns of the output or 10 turns.

After watching this video I believe it is indeed the second gearset. I really dont understand the last gear ratio on that set, every gear is taller than the first set except the last gear?? Why did they do that? limits top speed and highway miliage

Sold! Buyer just paypal'd. Thanks to all that were interested. I'll have plenty of other interesting and hard to find parts available when I start my part out. Keep an eye out!
