Default who wants to chop off the engine number of an old 1.6 engine for me?

Anyone have an old 1.6 engine lying around that they want to chop a piece of?
I'm looking for the part on the passenger side of the engine that has the engine number stamped in it. It's the yellow-ish scraped piece in this picture.

Anyone want to chop that of an old engine for me?

He's from Belgium so I'm going to guess there's some kinda weird laws over there that are making this piece desirable to him....? Or he could just be half-retarded

If Belgium is like the UK, you pay taxes based on displacement.

As you are from Holland, I understand that this is the first thing that comes to your mind so I won't hold it against you .

Very easy, you pay taxes on displacement. The bigger the engine, the more you pay... He wants to fool the garage by telling it's a 1.6 instead of 1.8.

Driving a car in europe is way more expensive. Right now 1 liter of gass will cost 1.65 euro... ($2.50....)
1 gallon will be $9.45. (regular 92 octane)

Above that we need to pay taxes just to drive... 50 euro/month...(goes on weight) 851-950kg =50 euro Thats why most miata's sold in The netherlands (89-93) don't have airco/ps/electric mirrors/abs
The miata weighs exactly 950...

Of course we need insurrance...

The 1.8 costs a whopping 37€ more per year.

So what's your point? Will a 1.8 with a 1.6 engine number consume like a 1.6?

Again, what's your point?

Sure, the original engine number is very difficult to see. I did some cleaning up with a wire brush but that wasn't a very good idea. 2 digits of the original number are no longer there. I don't know if tapping in the missing digits is allowed, so this seems to be the most easy way of having a readable number. What the number says is not so important really, it's just a matter of having one (a complete one).

He's just pissed off about belguim government rules...
Last thing i have heard(4years ago) was that a car must remain stock.
Even upgrading to koni's is illegal unless you weld then so they are not adjustable...
Even steel brakelines are illegal...

Maybe I'm just being cynical, but this sounds bad. To me it sounds like he needs a legit engine VIN because his isnt.
