Default Another Saturday at MS Labs

So its Saturday, I'm out of Megasquirt boards, what to do?

Oh wait. Lets build something pretty and useful, like a 24-output CAN expander for the Megasquirt:

Feeling satisfied for the day.

Thanks. There's no such thing as having too many hobbies.

Nice board work.

Nice camera, too. Did you start out shooting film or digital?

Digital. I've only shot film with a compact when I was a kid and I hated it.

If I lived in Greece, I'd be making wine right now...probably wouldn't even have a car. You know what they say, the philo is always thinner on the other side.

Have you ever thought of making some-sort of a TPS output for us track rats data logging on the track? I'd love to get throttle data into my G2X.

Circular connectors, not mil-spec (these are plastic).

Still way better than a D-sub or a rectangular AMP. I grew to love the positive lock, twisting action back when I was in the army.

The Enhanced MS3 has provisions for several (essentially pass-through) outputs, such as TPS, CLT, INJ1 (to monitor duty cycle and/or feed to a water injection system such as the Snow Performance S3 kit), so that you won't have to splice into the stock harness.

Not to dookie on you balaclava, but what's the point of CAN on a miata with it's 70s technology? Educate me.

Less wiring, more reliable, increased noise immunity. So nothing really important.

I ditched my entire Innovate logchain for this.

I got that, just didn't see how to implement this on a miata which had no CAN provision.

Which is why running CAN (2 wires) across the car is extremely easy and efficient.

Beyond its obvious use in things like aftermarket sensors and display gauges, CAN is the most common protocol for interfacing external serial devices to the MS family of ECUs. The MS2 and 3 CPUs have a provision for interfacing via CAN to sub-processors which can provide a variety of inputs and outputs above and beyond those provided for by the CPU's own physical I/O pins.

Thus, if one requires more inputs or outputs on a Megasquirt than are afforded in the stock configuration, one can chain a secondary processor to it via CAN to provide those additional I/O.

What interface would you rather see used here, ethernet?
