Enhanced Megasquirt - now with more features!

8 Attachment(s)
I would like to announce an important update to my Enhanced Megasquirt line of ECUs.

I have changed the design of the expansion board, which means that compared to the previous version, the new version has:

- Standard sequential ignition
- 2 free programmable outputs
- 2 free digital inputs (optional, on request)
- VSS (speed) input
- 5 more analog inputs. Two prewired for oil temperature and pressure, one for EGT (with onboard circuit, just connect the sensor) and two free inputs for datalogging (ie pre-intercooler air temp, gearbox temp, etc - optional, on request).
- Fully configurable knocking sensing using the TPIC8101 DSP chip:

Attachment 185801

- Fully configurable alternator control and battery light:

Attachment 185802

- Fully configurable A/C settings:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1345213366

- Fully configurable cooling fan control:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1345213366

- Fully configurable VICS/VTCS control:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1345213366

To sum it up, here is the full feature list of this ECU:

- Direct fit, no cutting or splicing required, connects directly to the stock ECU connectors
- 23 inputs
- 20 outputs
- Sequential injection with individual cylinder trimming
- Sequential ignition
- Excellent knock control with DSP, adjustable
- Electronic boost control with 2 seperate boost levels, selectable with an external switch, and/or boost by gear
- Digital alternator control, adjustable
- Smart battery light warns you of overcharging/undercharging, adjustable
- CEL is used for progressive overheating warning, knock warning, low/high oil pressure, high oil temp, adjustable
- A/C control (switches off below 600rpm. above 5500rpm, on 90% TPS or more, all completely adjustable)
- A/C idle-up, adjustable
- P/S idle-up, adjustable
- VICS/VTCS control, adjustable
- Sequential cooling fan control, adjustable
- Clutch and neutral switch input (these are used on several occasions, like for idle control, overrun fuel cut, etc)
- Two seperate fuel/timing maps, selectable with an external switch (ie regular pump gas or race gas or E85)
- Launch control
- Speed input from OEM sensor, current gear calculation
- Two free programmable outputs
- Oil temperature input
- Oil pressure input
- Optional EGT sensor input
- Optional flex fuel sensor input
- Optional free analog input
- All of the features above available at the same time due to the vast number of inputs and outputs

And of course:

- Basemap for YOUR application, not just a generic basemap
- Absolutely brilliant support, nothing less will do.

Please note: this is an update to the current Enhanced MS2 ECU, this is not the new generation ECU that has been discussed in this thread: https://www.miataturbo.net/ms-labs-m...er-pics-66880/

As usual, if you have any questions or comments, I will be more than glad to answer them.

+1 on brilliant support.
+1 on everything else

Great work Reverant!

Now get back to the new Gen, I want one pronto :D

Reverant 08-17-2012 10:48 AM

While the next gen unit is so awesome I want to cry, many Miata owners will still like the more affordable updated current gen model, which will easily provide more features and at less cost than any other MS2 ECU (or non MS ECU) right now.

Sweet. How close are you to finalizing my mega awesome ms3x? I'll shoot you an email later tonight.

It just keeps getting better:)

More great innovations for an awesome vendor with incredible customer service/support.

Speaking of features, I think I might have messed up the "homing" function in Tunerstudio...

I started the car in my driveway a couple days ago, and next thing I know I was in Athens...
Rev was kind enough to explain how to turn it off over dinner last night, so we can find our way back to Istanbul in a few days.

Reverant 08-18-2012 12:10 PM

You do understand that I didn't just reprogram it like that...so you would have to see me again. ;)

Godless Commie 08-18-2012 12:29 PM

Bring it on...

Zaphod 08-19-2012 03:03 PM

Do I have to come to you the make you finish the new enhanced MS3 for my 99-00... ;) (I can't wait to get this thing...) Please don't tell me I have to wait until Christmas...

Reverant 08-19-2012 04:00 PM

Nope, it will certainly be sooner than that.

richyvrlimited 08-19-2012 05:43 PM

But not as soon as an 01+ one for me :)

Oil logging sounds awesome. Find out possible problems before it causes a major problem.

But could I run a pressure or temp gauge ( autometer senders and gauges if it matters ) and have it log with the ecu also? Or, would I have to add a second sensor for the ecu?

Would it be a simple vampire tap to get the signal to the ecu?

I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to the electrical side of things.

Reverant 08-20-2012 03:10 AM

You need a second sensor for temps, which would be either the same as the OEM coolant temp sensor or the GM coolant temp sensor. Your choice.

As for the oil pressure sensor, you can use whichever one you want.

18psi 08-20-2012 09:25 AM

Wait, so in addition to the enhanced ms2 and "regular" ms3 you will soon be making an "enhanced ms3"?

Also, probably another silly question but: will tapping into the stock o2 wiring with a wideband output be available on these units like the 99+ MSPNP that diy offers?

At least that's what I got out of one of the recent MS threads: that you don't have to run a seperate wire from wideband to MS unit, but simply run it to primary or secondary o2 sensor wiring and set it up in MS to read from said wiring.

Don't know if that makes sense (its really early and I'm on my 1st cup of coffee lol)

Reverant 08-20-2012 09:32 AM

The current gen (gen 1) of the Enhanced MS2 is MS2 only.

The new gen (gen 2) will be MS2 or MS3. And yes, Enhanced.

Added indicators for all inputs AND outputs:

18psi 08-22-2012 01:46 PM

any ETA on the gen2? I'm not in a hurry, just curious

Reverant 08-22-2012 01:50 PM

No ETA yet, I'm trying to make it as solid as possible, due to the complexity of this ECU. Also, whatever work I am doing in gen 1.5 will make it to gen 2, so its not time lost.
