Working on VVT, knock windowing and GPS support.

AkaZero 08-14-2012 09:50 PM

So this is why my megasquirt is taking so long to be built. :giggle:

This is going to be a pretty awesome setup. So many extra options versus a standard ms. I might have to upgrade, maybe next year once I have a built motor.

richyvrlimited 08-15-2012 03:44 AM

Man I can't want for this thing :)

Very interested.

Zaphod 09-04-2012 07:11 AM

Oh come on Dimitris... no updates for days?

I am checking MT.net 5-times a day just to look for updates on that...! ;)

Reverant 09-04-2012 08:03 AM

I am focusing on the firmware of the updated Enhanced MS2. Remeber that the firmware used on the Enhanced MS2/MS3 will be based on this unit.

stratosteve 09-04-2012 07:43 PM

How about support for PLX devices widebands?

Reverant 09-05-2012 02:34 AM

I can add it, depending on demand and if PLX actually gives me their comms protocol.

thenuge26 09-07-2012 12:55 PM

I am also interested in PLX DM-6 support. From what I can tell it has a 0-5v analog out, so I am confused as to what the issue is. If you just need a unit to test/iron out bugs, I would be happy to get one for you that you can send with the ECU to me when you are done.

Also do they not work with any megasquirt, or just your enhanced version?

Reverant 09-07-2012 12:59 PM

All widebands do work with my Enhanced (and all other) Megasquirts.

The point is to use the digital (serial) interfaces these widebands have to get a 100% accurate reading from the wideband, and/or status report (errors, etc). The last is especially useful if you are using closed loop fueling, so any screwup from the signal of the wideband will in turn make the ECU screw with the fuel.

Just FYI B&G is working on their own wideband system that should integrate very well with MS. They are planning on having it give warnings and error codes that actually mean something.

Braineack 09-07-2012 01:49 PM

danger to the manifold?

Yes. Sadly, its been 8 years and still no PWC.

PWC?

I talked to Bruce/Al about it at the megameet this past spring. He mentioned that it is still slowly being worked on. I should get in contact with him again, he mentioned possibly getting in to be a tester for it.

Reverant 09-07-2012 02:15 PM

PWC = Precision Wideband Controller

Exactly! They have promised that since at least 2005.

RussellT94 09-08-2012 05:33 PM

Any plans for a group buy in the near future?

Reverant 09-09-2012 03:53 AM

Yes, as these boards and enclosures will be quite expensive, and I will need committed buyers to go ahead and order.

thenuge26 09-09-2012 10:23 AM

This must be what an Apple fanboi feels like before the release of the next iProduct.

When can we start lining up outside your house, Reverant?

triple88a 09-09-2012 10:42 AM

Call it Isquirt?

And i take it we gotta get sleeping bags and tents and shit to camp for a week?

Godless Commie 09-09-2012 10:48 AM

I can suggest an excellent hotel not too far from Rev's home.

Right, Rev?

Reverant 09-09-2012 12:34 PM

Lol, yes. It is also very economical, as you can pay by the hour... :giggle:

Zaphod 09-09-2012 12:47 PM

As I am already in anyways... Is this hour in the hotel room ALL inclusive...?:giggle:

Godless Commie 09-09-2012 12:52 PM

No.. BYOB.

18psi 09-10-2012 12:42 AM

I'm patiently waiting as well:)

richyvrlimited 09-10-2012 07:13 AM

Me too, well impatiently waiting really :)

natedawg 09-11-2012 08:09 PM

add me on the list i'm waiting too. GB in the works? 99-00

hustler 09-18-2012 03:56 PM

Ordered today, like a bauce.

richyvrlimited 09-18-2012 04:08 PM

Queue jumper!

Or did you actually order his MS2 unit rather than his new MS3 ultra baller unit.

Strangely, I have no problem with the delay.

I think it has to do with the fact that every time I PM/email him about status, I get this:

Rev: X problem occurred, now I have to make it 10x better)
Me: Sweet

AkaZero 09-19-2012 03:14 AM

It's like a good scotch.
The longer you wait, the better it is when you finally get to try it.

richyvrlimited 09-19-2012 04:00 AM

I've not been waiting that long, I'm just impatient! :D

Gonna be amazing when it finally arrives though.

Reverant 09-19-2012 04:03 AM

The major problem is the licensing issue - I have been trying to license the MS3 firmware for almost a year and I keep hitting dead ends. Looks like this might finally be over after some recent developments.

Zaphod 09-19-2012 07:48 AM

The good or the bad way...?

Just to make the list above even longer - you know I want one...

yellowihss 10-09-2012 10:39 AM

Updates?

Reverant 10-09-2012 11:43 AM

None, and its eating me from the inside.

Here's a reply from the developers, that was sent on Sept 27th, and no reply since then:

Dimitris,

just wanted to let you know that we aren't being intentionally obstructive.

(...)

I've been persuing this deal since god knows when and everytime that there seems to be a breakthrough, we get stuck somewhere else.

I may just go ahead an release it as a hardware package with the stock firmware and limited additional features, and then once the firmware licensing deal is in the clear, offer a trade-in for the updated unit.

18psi 10-09-2012 11:59 AM

So (for those of us that don't know jack about the details) essentially it will be the same MS3 Unit like DIY sells that we can later get all your cool "add-ons" to later?

I know I asked you before what the differences were, and you said "too much to list"..

Are those features posted somewhere that I'm too blind to see?
I'm just curious. Trying to figure out if I'll even need these additional featuers vs the price premium.

Reverant 10-09-2012 12:02 PM

Hardware wise, what you will get is an MS3 in a single box as picture in my first post, with all the hardware in there to support the mods.

Some of the mods will be available, even with the current firmware. For example, additional inputs and outputs, digital wideband communication and others.

Its the really advanced featurs that won't make it.

I'll post a list later on with the details, so everyone can make an informed decision.

richyvrlimited 10-10-2012 05:29 AM

I'll still take one based on being able to update the firmware in the future for the goodies.

joyrider 10-12-2012 01:48 PM

+1 for 99-00

Reverant 10-12-2012 02:24 PM

I will keep you guys updated. It's on the top of my priorities to get this out.

bcrx7 10-12-2012 07:07 PM

Now one quick question: I have a racepak IQ3 dash which uses the serial output of MS2 and older MS3 firmwares to read some info from the ECU to display and log. Will your serial output format be same as the MS3 firmwares?

Reverant 10-13-2012 03:16 AM

On the stock firmware, yes.

On the modified firmware, I am adding a few more bytes at the end for the extra stuff.

bcrx7 10-15-2012 01:44 PM

Alright, however in the modified firmware, you will keep the tag for the rpm and boost and so on. I think that's all it cares about!

Reverant 10-15-2012 01:46 PM

Well, like I said, I don't change any of the current "tags" as you call them, I just add a few more at the end.

18psi 10-26-2012 07:57 PM

any luck?

Reverant 10-27-2012 09:05 AM

Not with the developers, no. I've finished re-designing the power supply section, and I'm now replacing the optional on-board SLC wideband module with a different one.

richyvrlimited 10-27-2012 03:10 PM

Getting closer :)

I just wanted to inform you that I changed my license plates to make the car street usable/legal to 1st of March (was 1st of April) - so one month less time to finish the new enhanced MS for you ;)

Any 2013 news?

Reverant 01-02-2013 09:40 AM

Will be released in Q1 of 2013, some features may not make it in. If you have a specific feature you need, let me know.

Zaphod 01-02-2013 11:36 AM

I'll send you an email tomorrow...

Oh man, I can't wait! Do you have a lot of other pre-orders in for this?

EO2K 02-20-2013 06:42 PM

So, any word on when the party starts?

thenuge26 02-20-2013 06:49 PM

Yes, please spill something. I have started writing several PMs to you to order an MS2, but each time I don't send it because I really want an MS3. Can I fly to Athens and start the line outside your house?

EO2K 02-20-2013 06:59 PM

Technically Q1 ends March 31, so its not THAT long a wait...
