Help. NA. I had the car idling at 850 and 13.-14 AFR fine then Switch to close loop tuning.
I am not sure whats happening and I feel like I am chasing my tail. I feel like I can have the car idling fine. Then I blip the throttle and I get a couple oscilations before it settles back at 850. Sometimes, After a throttle blip the AFRs will start to climb.
I tried tuning for a while and found that my engine bay was getting really hot and was thinking I got heat soak because my car could no longer maintain my 14 afr. It started hanging out at 15-16.
I ve watch OGpedxing and its still not clicking for me. A couple of tips would be very appreciated.

I dont know what I dont know.

Please help.

This site helped me a lot when tuning CLI.

Mega Miata: Base timing

Edit: You'll have to search through that blog to get to the CLI stuff, The base timing page just happened to be what I had bookmarked. Hope this helps.

I took a look at your tune. I've also been working on my 1.6 engine with a ms3. I modified your closed loop idle initial value with what I am running. I am not suggesting that my answer is the correct one but I think it is a step in the right direction for you. Check it out and do some testing.

Thank you.

ANDYM-Ill look and play with the initial values when I get home tonight.

After reading idle timing on DIY autotuned I was messing with my timing at 16 at idle and 300 rpm below idle was 18 (to create the "trough")
But after mega miata he recommends idle needs to be 10 degrees
Mega Miata: March 2016
can anyone confirm they run 10 degrees, or 16 degrees at idle??

At 30-35kpa idle I am around 10 degrees. However at 40-45kpa idle (ac on) I am at 15 degrees.

If you're idling fine at 10°, leave it. If not, try advancing it a little. My idle is around 950 rpm 28 kPa, I believe I'm at 15°. If RPMs drop lower, it ramps up to 17°.
