Default car on or off

When trying to change specific portions of the base map does the car need to be running or just in the on position. My worry is the wideband sensor just sitting heating.I do apologize if this is a stupid question as I am very new to the electrical/tuning side of anything. thank you for NY HELP

You can absolutely make changes with the key on engine off. The wideband controller regulates the temperature of the sensor so it won't overheat. IME the risk of damage to the sensor is from starting the car when the sensor is already warm. Make your changes then turn the ignition off for a couple of minutes before starting.

Some changes require a key off sequence to implement.

Almost all changes can be made with key off and then loaded to MS. If you do it that way, make the changes in you air conditioned house. Then hook up computer and turn key on. A screen(s) will show you how MS and TS differ and you choose which overwrites which.
