My car was working perfectly a few weeks ago, now it will not start. I messed with req fuel and lowered it down and then up to see if cranking pws were too rich or lean. I can crank and crank and no dice. It won't even try to start.
I pulled the spark plugs and they are almost black and wet. I let the engine ventilate for 3 hours and put the plugs back in and nothing, it will crank but it does not fire at all.

I am running rc 550 injectors, mspnp1.

 

Are you getting spark? If not, determine why.

 

Yes I have spark. I think I'm going to start over. Get the cranking pws from diyautotune and do the math for the 550 injectors

 

Does anyone have a suggestion? I have spent several hours trying to start the car, changed the cranking PWs, tried using a lower Req fuel...all it does is backfire like crazy. Am I doing something wrong? How do other people start their cars in cold weather?
The plugs are soaked in gas, I take them off, dry them, use compressed air to dry the pistons, still wont start. I do have good spark....

 

My coolant sensor is reading the wrong temp, it says 60F and I tested the coolant with a thermometer and it reads 42F, MAT is 42F as well.
So in other words, it should be lean, not rich..but it is backfiring

 

look in your cranking setting and check your TP % flood clear. I would use the flood clear option to help the car start. What is your pulse width when cranking.

 

I have the flood clear set at 170adc, full throttle is 192 on my car. I don't remember the pws off the top of my head, but I attached the msq

 

I changed the spark plugs and it started on the 1st crank after working on it for 2 weeks. The old spark plugs had spark...what could have happened?

 

Did you check the gaps on the old plugs?

 

The gaps were set to 0.028" buy I am running stock ignition. I left the gap on the new sparks the way they come in the box but now it backfires when cruising so I'll need to close the gaps a little or just install my cops

 

Most of the COP coils I've seen out there are more of a cosmetic upgrade than anything else. They may be fractionally hotter than the stock coils, but not by much.
