Default 3inch exhaust!

Ive already gotten an estimate from one muffler shop(ill be getting an estimate from the other two local shops on monday or tuesday) to build a ful 3 in exhaust, it was 250 bucks. Thats from the downpipe back. Well, not the stock greddy dp, but any real aftermarket one, its going to pretty much be cat back but also eliminate the cat.

Anyways... do you guys think this is a fair price? Will this help with my spool/hp even with the super-restrictive stock greddy and oem miata midpipe(from the greddy to the cat). Im hoping so, but even if it doesnt help much im planning on upgrading from the pos greddy dp anyways.

Also i should be getting my 1.8 injectors in, and with a healthy stock fuel pump, a vortec with a 12:1 disc(i beleive, its whatever came with greddy) what psi can i run without being able to test a/f ratios? (no wideband yet)

Im hoping close to 10, but ill run 7 or 8 if i need to to be safe.

Ahh, thanks for entertaining my stupid questions!

You will probably only be able to run about 7psig with the stock pump. Just a guess

That's not a terrible price I suppose.
Locally i could get an exhaust guy to bend and install 3" for $150 long as I paid cash and supplied my own muffler. That's all crush bent though. If I'm gonna spend the money i'm gonna do it right with mandrel bent tubing.

thats a fair price. clearance would be an issue though depending on how low you are. Also that greddy dp is the absolute worst. Hes probally goint to have a crazy step down to that factory lower cat piece. Screw that get the tony. When I got a stock evo 8 exhaust 2.5" and modded it to fit it greatly increased spool especially with the tody dp.
Also,mufflers are for wussies

I would get the BEGI DP for the greddy and then get the 3" exhaust back from there. Should be a nice setup.

you didnt specify if it was crush bent or not... i'm going to assume it is. See if they can do it with mandrel bends for a few bucks more.

i've ran up to 15psi on a stock pump. my afr's are in the 11.2 area at full boost. so, there's enough fuel from what i'm gathering.

Yes, but at what pressure do you run your pump? The stock ~35-45 PSI?

Crush bent exhaust is still around?? Even up here its pretty much a given that when u get ur exhaust done its gonna b mandrel bends.

I would never ever get crush bent pipes, sooooo restrictive.

I was meaning with the 1.8 injectors and the stock pump. If he got the 190HP and got the different discs for it, he could run more with the proper tuning. But 265cc injectors with 85psi at the rail, I wouldn't take it any further than 7psi, without a wideband to ensure the afr's. If he had bigger injectors, he would be fine.

You are a lucky bastard. I cannot find a single place in the Charleston area that does mandrel bends!

How many shops in Alberta have a mandrel tube bender?

In B.C there is only one shop with one and the owner is as complete ******* towards imports and also likes to rip people off.

Man I went across the street from the dealer I bought my mx-6 from and got 2.5 mandrel exhaust, cost 200bux downpipe back. In Edmonton there are atleast 3 places where u can get mandrel bent exhaust.

Spike theres no way that in all of BC theres only one shop with a mandrel bender, that makes no sense, Vancity is huge compared to ol E-town.

Makes sense to me, it's been my experience that no where in Tennessee can you get mandrel bent exhaust tubing. You can buy bends from companies and have them shipped in but that is all. Mandrel tubing benders usually start at a minimum of $30,000 and go up from there when you start adding tooling for different size pipe. Thus the reason why no one around here has one.
Crush bent tubing(not ripple bent) is a dime a foot around here though and always under the table tax free.

When I was looking for a muffler shop to have a custom 2.5 inch exhaust made for my car,I asked around local speed shops & speed freaks and they all told me there is only one place that does custom mandrel bent exhaust systems.

So,yes in all of B.C there is only one shop that has a mandrel tube bender, and it sucks cause they are too expensive and they are ******** to deal with(from what I've heard).
