Default 99 td05 16g turbo

Hey guys, I am on here to get suggestions on what is the most low cost rout to take with this car I just bought. I purchased a 99nb with a td05 16g on it. this is the link to the previous owners build thread(https://www.miataturbo.net/diy-turbo...project-61901/). So update on car. It has a small crack in the mani and downpipe. I smell oil under boost and some times during light load. Probably from the exhaust leak but the oil I hope is coming from the turbo. I believe it's a cheap ebay turbo. There aren't any markings on it that I can see other than the a/r 70 on the exhaust side. Should I weld the mani and down pipe back up and order a ebay rebuild kit to fix the turbo? I do not drive this car daily but I will probably put around 5k a year or so on it. I wan't it to be reliable enough for that. I can't just buy a manifold with that flange on it and dp that will work can I? Yes this is my first turbo car.

Yes, cheap eBay manifold. Been there done that. Repair is a dice roll, just like the mani was from new. Buy something else, but that's going to mean a different turbo, too, as there's nothing out there for a Mitsubishi hotside unless it's custom made. Your best bet is to keep an eye out for a manifold/turbo/downpipe combo in the classifieds that you can afford, or reach out to one of the fabricators here who can build something around that 16g (which also looked Chinese in the linked build-thread pic). Probably end up the same place money-wise either way.

Yeah, I'm going to rebuild the oil seals on it and run it till i save the money to buy something else.
