Do not install a bracket on the downpipe. It WILL break. Not worth the time and effort.

The kits experiencing boost creep right now are the shanghai ones. Some of these actuators will adjust down to 5-6 psi, some will not. Unfortunately, we cannot predict which actuator will do what. We have spacers we can ship if needed. Just let me know!

You can't predict, but you can test the actuator can't you?

Its not the actuators, its the flapper hitting the downpipe flange preventing it from opening all the way. I initially thought it was the actuator, so I bought a garrett actuator and the problem persisted.
Hopefully the OP will test out the spacer and see if it fits on an NB, so that I can then order one and fix the god forsaken problem...

So this happens with both the shanghai and the Garrett 2554 turbos that Begi sells?

Also Stephanie, (and customers) you actually can test the thing before you install/ship it, you take a cheap tire pump and hook up a 15 psi boost gauge to it and you pump it slowly and see what it opens at. If its rated at 6psi, it should open around at 6 psi. Yes very little compared to car tires but its a good method to make sure you dont blow your engine up..

Sounds like a Made in US of A design FAIL to me.

Can you grind the inside of the DP flange to clear a path for the flapper swing without getting into the divorce tube weldment?

If not, you gotta cut it and weld a nice big pipe there

hmph >:[

The only difference is that with hondas I could get a cast manifold for 100 bucks, haha.

has anybody ever retrofitted an external wastegate on a BEGi manifold? I remember pat did on an older FM manifold at one point. Ive never welded to cast iron though...

superannoying patsmx5 did and it failed after a few years. If you're not tracking it, I be the benefits are worth it for what I'd consider a reasonable service life on the weld.

The Shanghai's have over boosting problems from actuators, turbos not being ported, and the flapper doors not being able to open enough. If the Garrett turbos over boost, it is usually from a flapper door not being able to open enough. Corky and Tim are working on it. We do not currently check the Chinese actuators for what PSI they produce. We can though.

Yep. You just have to weld it properly. The casting must be heated to X degrees prior to welding on it.
