Car is NOT starting, and I just got it done!

Well, I got my turbo put on the new car.
new set up (as of right now) I put on the green tops and a new ic and ic piping kit that had to be custom welded on one side. Stock fuel pump Fmu with a 6:1 disc Greddy bov (that leaks a little at idle, not sure if its suppose to do that, its the purple bov) and uhm..i think thats it. Just earlier i had to change out leaky injector o rings, so i know its getting fuel Idunno whats wrong... I checked all connections and piping. any suggestions? Attachment 215634 |

Im gonna put that one and see if it does this whole Die, not start for like an hour, then turn on and drive perfectlyu fine again thing. Haha. And I used to in my old car, dont have the balls to do it in this one yet :/ But ill slide it around a little bit down at this spot in west sac. |
What EMS are you running for that greddy kit?
so you have a spot in sac that you can go sliding? i come there pretty often but feels like cops are everywhere... i have a friend here with a FM turbo miata...we go sliding pretty often here in marysville, but now my car is under construction.. |

i need to upgrade to a 1.8 because of the turbo. gotta have torsen or 2nd gen rx-7 but not sure how to install it...gotta research...

Tell that to the people who've been doing it (or using spools) for fifty years. If all you want to do is get sideways and have shitty handling (drifting, which IS stupid by the way...) then a welded diff will not only work great, it'll be indestructible.

okay, if that's your point of seeing it i guess....welded diff will only kill me in the rain...thats why i don't want to do that...i addition i don't just drift i do auto cross..... in my point weld isnt they best way to go...

If you want to do anything other than drag racing and Dukes of Hazard moves then the welded diff simply is not a good idea. A fully locked diff will make you look like a hero to the ladies though.

Is this the 2nd motor you have blown?...Do you do any tuning/testing before you go out and red line it with tires smoking?

He tried to turbo one Miata, couldn't get it work, fucked up the car (and made a million STUPID posts about it) and then bought a second one about two weeks ago, put a turbo on it and blew the motor. I think it's time for a new hobby.

at first all i did was slapped on a turbo kit without any EMS and dorve it for like 3 months and kick some hondas asses and its still okay..i don't know how you can blow a motor so easyly...you must be killing it...

I had my turbo on the other car too.... blew the motor put a new one in then it was coo after i got that fuel pump. this one, i have no idea, it wasnt right from the moment i started it up.. If you are not willing to see how your spark plugs are burning, check/adj. your timing, pay attention to your air/fuel mixture, validate your fuel pressure and tune boost accordingly you should not be running a turbo.....before you put in your third motor I suggest you take an automotive repair class or buy yourself a few books... good luck son

BS comeon guys Scot has poped 2 motors by now :gay: but not in the same year geez. Yes slidin we where all new once but damn boy 95% or more of us read the faqs and spent a few hours reading everythread on the forum we thought looked interesting. This is simple but not fool proof or totally easy. You might be able to swing a wrench but i am thinking abit of patience and general attention to detail would go along way towards you not blowing your budget on motor builds every other month ya know ;)

I have a short block and extra head in the garage with bad rings, i took it in and they said it could be honed. so im looking for used pistins and new rings and just gonna put it all together and call it good. |
Alright well...
I went and pulled my plugs and they were all corroded and rusty looking, and the tips were Black. What would cause that? Ping? Detonation? And i figured out where all the oil is comming from, its just gushing out from my fitting. Im not sure if my crank case was pressurized or not, but i think it was becuase there was oil by where the plug wires are, and the oil cap was loose, so i figured it was becuaes of bad rings. Im gonna have to find a compression tester today to make sure. I replaced the plugs with old ones i had, and it would rev up to like 4k before it wouild just stay there. Detonation? I dunno. |
I replaced all of them but one with old plugs. and its shooting white smoke when i hit the throttle and hesitates at around 4k.

Spend the money and get one more $1.50 plug for fucks sake.
Make sure your PCV valve is working if it's allowing boost into your crankcase you're going to continue having problems. |

If I didn't want to see you get banned so badly, I would tell you to buy a fucking wideband, or mabye a Megasquirt to actually do it right this time. My shit just did its 7th and 8th track days and it's run 4000 miles in the last 3 months. Megasquirt, big injectors, wideband, professionally tuned.
