Default catalytic converter

I need a cat so I can pass CA smogg. But I want the best one for the turbo, I have flying miata turbo exhaust and wanted to know what is the best matched cat?

I would also like to do a down pipe in the future, just trying to plan ahead.

I guess any 2.5in high flow cat designed for the miata would work.

In Illinois, they hook the computer up to the OBD, and then put it on a sniffer at idle. I've passed with a test pipe.

Well what is your emissions procedure?

For us, they drive on a half mile track before, pull the car into the bay, type in the VIN to get past history, put a sniffer at idle, OBD/OBDII computer hookup, analyze, and away you go with either a pass/fail/void.

I think I will just go with the cheapest stock one I can find. I can use the straight pipe when I dont need the test! Moss sells a stocker for like $120

In CA, for a <96 car, they enter your VIN, sniff the tailpipe at idle, then put you on a rolling road and sniff the tailpipe under load at 15mph and 25 mph. They also check the timing, and perform a visual inspection to ensure that all emissions-related hardware is present.

He goes by TurboTony on this forum, though I haven't seen him around in a while. Email is turbotony2k@yahoo.com.
