Default Changing the Vortec discs

Hey guys, As most of you know I'm the guy thats trying to blow up the stock motor lol. Anyways I have chosen to go with a megasquirt and before that I want to mess a little with the discs. My car starts pinging at around 4500RPM and up in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear. 1st gear and 5th gear there is no pinging present. My narrowband shows RICH under WOT all the way till redline. Now I just put the 10:1 disc in and the car feels quicker and 2nd gear doesnt ping at all. I only get pinging in 3rd and 4th gear.

Keep in mind i have a stock greddy turbo with the wastegate tightened so boost goes up till about 8 psi. I have the starion FMIC and thats pretty much it. Now was it a stupid idea to put the 10:1 disc? Should I try the 8:1 disc to see if that helps even more? or am i just plain old asking for my motor to blow up any minute.

Braineak has put up with me up until here and hes helped me FARRRR more than you have so why do you have your panties up in a bunch? I just asked for some help. Snow surfer, timing should be at 10 I havent touched it. I read something like running 8 ? Not sure.

and you're doing a damn good job driving with continued detonation.

My panties ain't in a bunch. Sounds like yours are though. Also sounds like you don't understand why you're doing what you're doing. You're trying to fix an ignition timing problem by reducing fuel. That'll just lead to an ingition problem + a lack of fuel problem. Which will result in a dead motor. But that's what you're going for, right?

Where should your timing be? I don't know, but understand that CA gas is crappy. Are you intercooled? Try 6*. It'll feel sluggish off the line, but will save your motor.

1. Change your timing to 6*.
2. Use 93 or higher octane.
Do NOT boost any more until you get timing control or Water Injection.

What are your goals for HP???
Stock greddy kits are slow but with a few easy and cheap tweaks like a BIPES, fuel pump, and injectors it can open a whole new world for you!

Ben i just got ticked off cuz i dont like when people just make fun of someone regarding something they dont even know about. (i.e. 350z) Obviously your knowledge in the miata turbo world is far greater than mine, and I appreciate the fact that you gave me some info now. Thanks.
Now... by switching to the 10:1 disc I reduced fuel? I have emailed the king guy regarding megasquirt and Im very interested in that especially since I can use it if I get my other motor working. I just want to be able to boost more than 6psi with the right amount of fuel and what not. Should I just wait until the megasquirt guy contacts me so I can boost a lot more easily? I just wanted to do it in a way with the vortec discs atleast until i get my megasquirt. Thanks for the help soo far guys. And snow surfer gay *** cali doesnt have 93, I'm stuck with 91 octane which I always use. And I also am intercooled (starion)

Drop timing to 6*. Drop boost to 6 psi. Get off of it if you hear pinging.

If detonation continues because of your shitty gas, mix 1-2 gallons of toulene in with each tank. You can get it at paint stores.

You shouldn't need a new fp with the MS and 550s. If you do get a pump, you'll want an intank pump that adds flow like a walbro 190lph. Change your fuel filter while you're doing the pump.

On the flip side, a walbro 190lph hp and 1.8 injectors will get you enough fuel for a safe 8-10 psi.
