Economical Turbo setup
 

Read most of the forums and posts but haven't gotten an answer to "What parts specifically would you use to put together a 8-10 psi boost turbo kit for a 2000 Miata?" A listing of parts would help. Which turbo ? etc. I see Flying Miatas kits but they are too expensive for my budget.

Anyone who has put together a piecemeal kit and who would list their parts would be great.

Yep, 8 psi or above makes it completely uneconomical with costs spiraling out of control.

What you want is, an FM turbo manifold, an FM downpipe, a GT2560R, an FM coolant and oil hose kit, FM intercooler kit, an FM hydra, some vacuum hose, and an FM exhaust.

Wait he also needs a BEGI racer reroute.

I found 6.8psi was my ceiling. The next 0.2psi was going to be rough on the wallet.

Flyin Miata and Begi stuff is outdated.
What you really need is a greddy kit.
Some of the ebay stuff is really good as well. I would buy this manifold to start with: Baller JDM mainfold
You're going to need something like a Sebring boost controller too, but a powercard is just as good, maybe better.

I'd begin with a new Internet connection. It appears your isp is blocking out all of the prior threads on the topic.

BEGi Shanghai kit is the cheapest option.

Gonna need a new, stouter clutch in your budget for any kind of boost over 7.

I'd play it safe with the 6.8psi i mentioned earlier. Stock clutch will be fine for that. 7.01psi, the stock clutch slips and burns up.

I dunno though, for some reason whenever I hit even 6.9 psi I get eggplant, so you're even cutting it close there.

I think eBay is the best route, those kits are engineered for a safe boost level out of the box. Before they started doing that they would just break all the time, but the newer ones have a safeguard built in for less fail.

Don't forget that Ebay kits no hit blocks and fit much better too.

You need to be careful with eBay though. Sometimes you see the old, outdated parts from Begi and FM being sold alongside the hella legit stuff because the owners didn't have the sense to spend just a lot less for Baller JDM parts. It's easy to get confused.

The secret is, for less than 10 PSI, supercharging is the way to go. All the cool kids know it, but they won't admit it in public.
