eMission possible: PASS
99 BEGi S4 with Xede
Background:
The Xede likes to cause MIL P0300 Non-cylinder specific misfire as the stock PCM does not like some of the timing changes which occur while cruising. There is no actual misfire, it's a result of the stock PCM's overly sensitive misfire detection function.
Per BEGi's advise, I zero'd out the Xede's timing change map in all vac cells, cleared the code from the stock PCM, and drove 20 miles, half city and half interstate.
Result:
Passed Georgia OBDII emissions without incident.
Now long term, I'll increase the resolution of the Xede's timing adjustment map and add 1 or 2 additional vac rows, then smooth out the timing adjustments. This will hopefully eliminate the stock PCM from detecting a "misfire" ever again. However even if it does not, simply resetting a code and driving for a short time before annual inspections is certainly an acceptable solution.

Undecided if the Xede will go or stay. Another NB S4 owner got 275 whp out of his with a 2860. I have already informed DIY Autotune that I am in posession of a 99 for their eventual MSPNP NB adventure. I am going to play with the unit and get wideband integrated, as well as see what can be done about some boost control. So I guess I'll allow the Xede to sink or swim, then play the rest by ear.
I have to admit though the Xede is doing a good job doing the little bit that it is doing intercepting and offsetting MAF and timing. Looks like it's also an o2 clamp in boost. If I can integrate the wideband and datalog everything together, I might even get it to 12:1 in boost from the 10:1 it's currently running at.

Car has not been tuned. It is NOT slow though, even at 10:1.
First power pull on BEGi's dyno resulted in 210 whp but the clutch was slipping. They shut it down. Car has an ACT clutch now, but has not been to a dyno. Once I get wideband integrated to Xede I'll start with some street tuning.
BEGi got an S4 to 275 whp 2 weeks ago. So there's hope for me.

ACT HD went in last month.
I'm told it got a lightweight flywheel at the same time, but I am unsure which.
Car has Hawk HPS pads which look new, as do the rotors. The fluids look like they were all very recently flushed. Synchros are all good.
Car has at least 2 exhaust leaks and exhaust hitting on the body somewhere underneath that translates into a vibration while driving. I'll look at that on Saturday when the car's in the air. If I really wanted to beat the car up, there are a few things.
One of the foglamp bulbs is out. Has a few small dings on the decklid and some minor scratches in a few places that will probably buff out. There's 1 small mark on each interior door panel. Top is good but not perfect, but both latches work correctly. Besides being untuned, I can't find any other faults.
I don't care for the Torsen compared to the clutch LSD in the 91. So I'll be building a new diff with either 3.6 or 3.3 gears and a clutch LSD then swap out. I don't care about autocross, so there's no downside to a clutch LSD for me.
The car got a whole lot quicker with the 8" wide wheels compared to the stock wheels.

It could be the AFR's are going richer with the cooler air. It could be you need a winter and summer map. It was in the 90's when it was here last. So....
You can integrate the WB O2 and log it. However,it will log in voltages and not AFR's. But there is a voltage conversion chart here:
http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/r...ogOutTable.pdf
The yellow wire on the LC-1 will wire into the yellow wire in the Xede harness. Connect the two and send me your map. I will create a WB O2 map for you and send it back.
FWIW-I think the car only got a clutch. The flywheel may have been resurfaced though.

Not for OBD test.
For the roller test on the older car, they did last year but not this year. I think that's because they went from a RPM pickup that clipped to a plug wire to a new unit that they just place on top of the hood.

If you want to play around with the maps I use, drop me a line at ptschmidt@gmail.com.
I also need to start pestering you about the 1.6 thermostat bits.
