Default Would an Audi TT intercooler be a good choice?

Hey Guys,

Just wondering, I have 2 of these intercoolers sitting at home.
I think that if and when I go ahead with turboing a Miata I may use one of these intercoolers.

Has anyone used one, or know if it flows well etc?

I figure it's used on a 1.8T so it would be decent for the 1.6 engine....

thanks

J

The A4 side mount is a good choice for an "over the top" setup. I'm curious to see what the TT core and flanges look like.... might be another option. <G>

I don't think so dude. Too small and awfully thick.

No, the TT is a side mount as well, same as the A4. I would say the I/C is roughly 8"x10" by 2.5" deep. I will try to measure and take a few pixs soon...

I'll bet the TT and the A4 share the same I/C.

Dave,
Hey Dave,
The TT flanges come straight out on either end, no bends.
I think you could do the over the top setup or maybe mount on its side and run either way beside the rad...of course i haven't actually looked into installing an I/C in one of these cars yet

I'm not sure if it ever got posted here, but one of the local guys took a A4 1.8T intercoolers and mounted it for an "over the top" style IC for his M45 hotside.... The pictures looked pretty good, and it seemed to fit....

Will see if I can find the thread..... Found two on m.net

http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=183836

http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=183675 (this was a little more generic)....

SCs like short runs, so I'm going to do an over the top when I get an IC.... either make it or get it (at this point though, making it sounds like a good idea). Although, I'm still learning what characteristics make up a good IC. <G>
