Look closer at the Trackspeed manifold. It's not what I would consider to be a "log" style. It has individual runners that all arrive at the collector. BEGI & FM manifolds are what I would "log" style.

 

I think he was just making a point, not calling the tse mani a log.

Pretty sure Jamie was referring to the Fab9 setup, saying that you would likely get better throttle response from a log manifold and the 0.64a/r vs. the Fab9 V-band and the requisite 0.85a/r. I would be inclined to agree with that estimation.

 

My mistake, carry on. I just cringed when I heard someone calling such a work of art a "log".

 

It's strange how that guy is still having problems with his email selectively all these years. What is it been, three, four years he's been having email troubles?

This whole fiasco made me reevaluate my plans--when the money comes back from Fab9 it'll be going into a cage and other safety prep so I can run in the Supermiata series

Man, I ordered a Fab9 kit before reading the related threads on this forum. Unsurprisingly, there is way less criticism on M.net as they aren't as critical about service rendered. I'm glad I only had minimal-to-moderate trouble dealing with him. If I had been more active here when choosing components, I probably would have asked TSE to build an NC kit. Well, begged TSE perhaps. I don't see any TSE NC stuff at first look.

 

TSE probably won't ever make a NC setup. Track guys tend to not like the NC and it won't ever get the support that the NA/NB/ND will.

I do think the Fab9 NC turbo setup is the best on the market for the NC. At least I like it far better then the TDR guys setup.

 

I should clarify, Now that I had the Fab9 stuff in my hands I know that its worth the time and cost. Its a super awesome kit and the manifold meets high expectations.

I understand the lack of serious development support for the NC. The NA or NB can match its mechanical grip and engine performance without the cost, weight and size handicap of the 3rd gen chassis. It dose make for a good street/track car compromise though! Quiet and refined as far as roadsters go.

 

I've started reading good things about the NC for the first time in ages as prices have come down at the same time that NA prices are on the rise again.

 

I personally don't get the NC hate.

The only knock I can think of, unless Blackbird has done it, is a track worthy dual-duty roll bar that doesn't force me to remove the trunk for the legs. If there is one, I may start looking for an '09-10.

 

NCs are great. They're not as heavy as you think they are, and they can fit a LOT of tire. As the aftermarket catches up when compared to the companies that took advantage of the fact that the same car was made for 15 years with the NA/NB, they'll get more and more supported, and faster on track.

 

Blackbird has done it with the GT3 and spec roll cages. Unless you are talking about the PRHT, those are tougher to get a reasonable bar into.

Thats what I am talking about. The NC had a ten year run and came stock with a superior engine and far superior ECU. There should be just as massive aftermarket as the older cars, but they are now only kinda there after production is over and the prices are falling.

Also, my 2013 with soft top removed, Blackbird GT3 and removable hard top in place is 2560 without me in it and with a half tank. Not tooooooo bad..

The Fab9 should motivate it real nice like. I can't wait to share data and numbers.

 

Miata aftermarket is just insanely slow, because the people that mod these cars for the most part won't mod anything that's "expensive" which seems to be the 10k mark.

Look at the toyobaru twins: in the 1st 3 years of production on that totally new car, they've already got more turbo and super kits than the na/nb/nc/nd combined over a span of almost 30 years.

Now that ND is out, NC is dropping in price, and I'll be surprised if more people don't pick them up.

 

​​​​​​​I keep thinking about a MKTurbo NC setup. Then I remember that I don't like the NC. Maybe one day it will come. I think NC's can be found below $5k which is when I will start looking.

 

Last thing you want is helpless people breaking their fragile nc1 engines and blaming your kit for it.
