Somewhere among my thread I talk about that plan. Its been at the top of my priority list, but always the one I push aside. I need to still get some couplers, new clamps (I got 2.75" clamps cause they sold out of 2.5"), fab the pipes up to have welded, and mount the IC.

I should hopefully have that done this next coming week. I am ******* dreading re-registering it and paying my taxes from last years and current.....arghghg.

The TT rail looks almost identical to the Vishnu rail, except the TT rail is bigger.

Bigger= more of a bitch to install in a already tight space.

Hey guys, cool to see there's still interest in the build.

I went back to work last Monday and since then I have done **** to the car until this weekend. After 14 hours of the hottest weather ever this past week, the last thing I wanted to do was come home to crawl under the car.

Yesterday I just added speed bleeders and bled the brakes, but today I finally got to something important. My IC pipes! Holy **** I put them on the back burner forever now.

I had a bunch of stuff to work with. I tried about 3 different mock ups on the hotside, but the coldside was pretty straight forward. I have to trim some of the pipe on the hotside, but other than that and adding clamps, done.

I also got the gauge cluster and steering wheel plastic pieces back in. The interior just needs the stereo **** and then I can put it all back together.

I am thinking I will need to throw on my cat, and have to wait to put the tunertoys rail and bigger injectors in to smog it. I need to re-register it and it passed the emission date. My old greddy setup passed at 8psi, so I am hoping this will pass as well.

I cant believe its July and my car is still sitting. For some reason I do this **** every summer. The Brazilian guys at work don't understand whats wrong with me.

Dude sweet setup man. Those ebay pipes? You think you could have made it work just as well w/ a greddy setup?

I have been thinking about getting those ebay pipes but have not done it yet.

Sick.

Thanks guys!

I think with the Greddy kit it would have been just the same concept, only tweaked a bit seeing then I was using a starion FMIC, so it would have been a little different. Same thing goes for up at the turbo depending on how it was clocked.

These are the ebay pipes! I bought them about.....3 maybe 4 years ago to make IC pipes for my Greddy setup but never did. The IC pipes were my weakest link in my Greddy setup. The pipes jumped from 2"-3" back to 1.5" and so forth. We just welded some **** together real quick to make it work. The clamps were always facing the wrong way when you needed to get to them, and the way the pipes were routed made them smack into the sway bar often.

This time around I was trying to take my time with the pipes. I did some reading online about every 90deg angle creating X amount of psi back pressure and yatta yatta. I think this setup will be good, and I made sure that all t-bolt clamps were easy to get to and had room to get the socket on them.

I cant decide on leaving the pipes as is.....or bringing them to the local powdercoater to make them black. Either way I hope to have them all finished by this weekend.

Cool pics when done.

Few moe quick ic pipe questions.. What are the diameter of the pipes.. 2.5? Also, what did you use to go from that diameter to the turbo. Im guessing you bought a coupler heh.

Cant wait for more pics.

Yea they are they 2.5" pipes. From the turbo I just used a 2"-2.5" 90deg coupler. And for the intake on the turbo I will have to use a 2"-2.5" reducer as well. Once they are all done and on the car "working" I will take plenty of pics and write up what I used to do both sides.

Yea.....see that's what sucks. lol

As is right now, it's something ridiculous. I know I'm being stupid having so many couplers, making that many places I can potentially pop one. But I was aiming for silicone by the sway bar this time, rather than pipe. My last IC pipe setup took a good 1/8" out of the sway bar from rubbing on it. So when I went from the IC with a 90, then another 90 to get it in the right direction, then a 45 to shoot straight up pass the sway bar, that makes 6 clamps alone right there.

I have to stop by the welding shop this week anyway to have him weld a nipple on the BOV pipe for the idle control hose, so I might try and see if I can replace some couplers with pipe.

Not a big update, but something important enough for my peace of mind. I kept thinking about the PPF bolt I lost on and off....mostly off. So I finally remembered to order the ****** from FM salvage and got 2. I replaced the road rashed one I still had in, and added the second that I was missing.

I never want to drive having to hold up the transmission with the shifter ever again . The ******* thing was this [ ] close to losing the second bolt. The shifter **** would bob up and down a good couple inches. I felt it was necessary to hang onto the ******* thing so it wouldn't snap and drop. Needless to say its nice to know that I'm all set on my PPF bolts.

Was going to put on the FM heat shield, but of course that didn't fit. I even remember a phone call months back asking if this would mate to my downpipe. Not like I can trim a couple inches off......but I thought it was a direct fit. I just wanted to help clean up that area and help keep the rain directly off the turbo from the fish gills above.

Time is coming close to my bodyshop appointment with my buddy. I just hope to have everything else ordered and installed by then! Thank god he's a good friend and lets me pay him in payments.

Naturally, I would tend to approve. It all looks reasonably well preserved and brought further up to date. Way to go.

FM, however, didn't have anything to do with it.

I didn't want to open this back up until I had some type of update..... Thanks for the kind words Corky! Coming from you that is something truly awesome.

So I have it setup to bring the miata down to my bodyshop guy. He said whenever I'm ready he'll take care of me. So now....its really just all on me. I will be having him repaint the bumpers and trunk spoiler, as well as any other spots on the car he feels the need to paint. Fix the scratches in the CF hood from the god damn tent. Finish installing the AAC headlights. And a new windshield and the Robbins top finally put in.

But before I can get to that......

I have been back to work for 4 weeks now and with 14 hour days under the sun again and ******* with forms and concrete all day.....I decided I need to treat myself.

This is only what I have ordered and should have this week. I still need to decide on a amp and 8" subs.

Kenwood DNX7100. CD/DVD/IPOD, Garmin navigation, AV inputs, etc etc. I did a shitload of research on double din units and it took about a week of reading before I got this. Auctionsniper on Ebay got it for me @ $720 brand new in the box.

Polk Audio MMC6500 component speakers. Also, I did alot of reading before getting a set. I ended up spending most of my audio budget on the Kenwood unit alone, so I couldn't go crazy on speakers. I picked these up off ebay lastnight for $125 brand new.

I have alot more in the works and the car SHOULD hopefully be on the road again soon. The more overtime I put in the more money I have to get parts. But after a days work I'm ready to pass out by 8! So the only time I really have now to get anything done on the miata is Sunday.

Thanks again to everyone checking out the build and givin props! This has turned into alot more than I had planned for.....

Got some work done after work tonight.

The mounting of the Kenwood screen and getting that OEM look is going to be a pain in the ***. I pretty much knew it wasn't going to just pop in when I bought it.....so I'm not surprised. Just another learning experience I guess....

Wired up easy enough, getting better with electronics as time goes on! Although I skipped the handbrake wire thinking I could just play DVDs anyway. Wrong. I'm guessing I need to just ground the wire so its always grounded, thus tricking the Kenwood that the brake is pulled. Gonna try that tomorrow.

The unit itself is ******* awesome! I rocked a 1990 Alpine deck with old Boston speakers from the PO for years now. This was what i always wanted....so I'm glad I was able to get something like this. It does so much and has a crazy amount of features. I love it!

The Garmin antenna magnetized right to the rollbar, found a signal both top up and down instantly.

I also bought the Kenwood IPOD cable. Lets you input music and video, plus keeps the IPOD charges via USB. I cant wait to finally have a actual IPOD hookup, rather than the FM transmitter.

I have an idea of what I need to do to make the screen fit nice and look as OEM as I can do myself. I just ordered another 36sqft of Dynamat extreme and I plan to tackle the rear deck next. Dynamat, spray foam, and a set of 8" subs should do. I just need to decide on the subs and amp now.

Gonna bring the IC pipes to the welder tomorrow.....finally. I made a bet with one of the guys at the shop that I can have the car running and on the road in 3 weeks. I still need to fix the wheel and tire situation too.
