A friend of mine did get a few ebay and a few name brand valves, and it seemed to be more a question of design not manufacture. The ones that work in the name brands worked when they were knock offs, the ones that sucked when knock offs also sucked in the name brand.

I had a TurboXS type-s before. It was pretty quiet. I just had to oil it at every oil change. It's for sale, but no one wanted it.

Now I have a real Greddy RS. I like the diaphragm setup, it seems like it will stay oiled longer. I'm dying to hear how it sounds.

Define leak. My knockoff Greddy RS is adjusted (by removing the center spring) such that it is open at idle, however as soon as throttle is applied it seals firmly and does not appear to leak under boost. It vents quite smoothly, with no fluttering.

Myself, I of course went with a genuine greddy type-s cause im baller.
I went with the knockoff, cause I'm the actual ball.

Mine's barely* open at idle, I can never get it to inhale. I don't know for sure what it does at part throttle with boost in the IC pipes.

It might be a problem if I weren't running a speed/density system. All that metered air leaving would cause problems otherwise.

(By "barely" I guess I mean enough to be VTA. Maybe it's recircing the whole time. Guess I should take a look at that, esp since I've been building boost slow the past few days. It was a sudden, noticeable change)

no, this same car has also run a knock off greddy type -s for two weeks too.

It was the ebay GFB, the silver one posted above, that was absolute crap. it wouldnt seal at idle, no biggie. In boost, you dealt with horrible flutter, or you loosened it and it leaked in boost.

the knock off Type -S seemed to work just fine, but the note was odd compared to my real one. That was later replaced for a genuine type-s as a local deal came available, that was too good to pass up.

I'm starting to think I'm recirculating all the time. I'm going to maybe put a whistle on that line...
