ILOVETACOTACO Turbo Kit

Hi I wanted to know if anyone has tried ILOVETACOTACO turbo kit on Ebay and what you think of it and is it a waist of money or not?

bikersam717 01-18-2014 12:50 AM

No one has ever heard of it.

triple88a 01-18-2014 12:58 AM

Last time i heard someone using it they made almost 400 hp. It blew the begi S4 kit out of the water.

NA4Life 01-18-2014 01:04 AM

That's what iv heard to but iv seen a pretty even amount of people that love it and hate it iv herd good and bad I know the pictures on ebay show it dosent hit the block but theres a couple threads on here that say they do and I dont want to spend the money on a full kit then have to go back and get a new manifold.

thirdgen 01-18-2014 01:09 AM

Those threads on here are BS. I've personally used it. It DOES NOT HIT BLOCK. Best bang for buck ever. Would easily bolt on again...

triple88a 01-18-2014 01:11 AM

I thought it already confirmed in the ad that it does not hit block.

NA4Life 01-18-2014 01:12 AM

Ok thank you. But I do have a couple questions for you are how much hp did you gain and how much PSI was it and why so cheap?

thirdgen 01-18-2014 01:15 AM

It's cheap cause it's not genuine garrett...but it's just as good. The actuator is set at 7psi. I dyno'd it at Gluteus Motorsports, and it made well over 200.

thirdgen 01-18-2014 01:17 AM

I definately didn't waist my time with that kit. That was also at a time in my life where I drank a lot. I was waisted all the time!! Shitfaced bro!

NA4Life 01-18-2014 01:18 AM

Ok can I puss 10 with it or do you think it would blow the motor its stock with 153k on it?

thirdgen 01-18-2014 01:19 AM

What year is the car?

18psi 01-18-2014 01:20 AM

I made 350 on 3 psi that kit is legit bro, I herd it haulz like cray ull pull on ngaz and look gud doin it

NA4Life 01-18-2014 01:22 AM

its a 97 with 153k on it but it still runs strong im even getting ready to drive it from Washington to Texas.

triple88a 01-18-2014 01:22 AM

10 psi should definitely make the trip much quicker.

thirdgen 01-18-2014 01:24 AM

^ 3psi and you made that? Must've been a gynojet. My dyno shows low. Btw OP...he means 13, not 3...lol. You can run up to 16 psi with that setup on your motor.

18psi 01-18-2014 01:24 AM

yeah bro 3psi not a typo on 13 you should make well over 400
just make sure to turn the cas completely clockwise and run all the timing

thirdgen 01-18-2014 01:24 AM

I'd drive from Washington to Honduras on that boostz

NA4Life 01-18-2014 01:29 AM

what kind of hp would that put me at with 16psi and a full exhaust?

18psi 01-18-2014 01:29 AM

500whp+
Basically pullin on lamboz

18psi 01-18-2014 01:30 AM

ull need a full roll cage and prolly a parachute wif dat kinda powa bro

be careful with it

thirdgen 01-18-2014 01:32 AM

Does Chuck Norris have you on speed dial?!? You'd wipe your ass with c6 ZO's all day! Shit would make like 530whp with a slight 28* timing advance.

triple88a 01-18-2014 01:32 AM

Gotta tune the noss another mili second and you'll run 9s.

NA4Life 01-18-2014 01:32 AM

Naw its a street car just a hard dog roll bar

18psi 01-18-2014 01:34 AM

better throw some carbon kevlar brakes on dat dere bad boy den cuz u wont be able to stop after 180mph pullz

triple88a 01-18-2014 01:34 AM

What do you plan on doing for fuel? Power card and a 5th injector or what?

thirdgen 01-18-2014 01:36 AM

Why would he need that? That's all bs. Octane booster is all he would need.

18psi 01-18-2014 01:38 AM

fuel pressure regulator bro

you know this

bump base pressure to 180psi and keep the stock injectors, they're good for around 550-560 depending on how clean they are

thirdgen 01-18-2014 01:40 AM

Oh shit son, I forgot about fuel pressure. Good call!!

NA4Life 01-18-2014 01:43 AM

What would you suggest?

standalone fuel management and a motec systems exhaust

NA4Life 01-18-2014 06:31 AM

Could it work with just a adjustable fuel pressure regulator rather then spending $800 on a standalone fuel management system?

carnut169 01-18-2014 07:54 AM

Just why.

Ebay= crap kits & blown motors. Manifold will crack. Go to Flyin Miata or Begi for a decent bolt-up kit.
250hp is the max your internals can take, but you will need to spend $$ on a clutch, and EMS of some sort.

I think the lowest $$ you can spend and have something decent is $3k.

Everyone knows this but OP, your lazy and didn't do ANY reading.

ILOVETACOTACO Manifold is DEFINITELY NOT a waist of money.

Here's a waist of money:

If you don't love tacos you must be some type of communist.

BTMiata 01-18-2014 01:52 PM

I would buy nething wit taco in its name. Yo seriously I ran this manif0ld before i hit up artech for my new setup and honestly I think i made more boost wit the taco. Shit gave me the squirts when i got in boost it was mad crazy

NA4Life 01-18-2014 03:46 PM

But that manifold is made cheap and has a high risk of cracking its only stainless steel can it take the heat and not crack?

18psi 01-18-2014 03:51 PM

yes. but worst case just carry a gallon of water with you and throw it on the manifold after a hard pull to cool it off real quick dawg

Chiburbian 01-18-2014 04:27 PM

Please make it stop.

locomonkeyboricua 01-18-2014 04:47 PM

I know that one of the fastest stock motor miata on mt.net has a ebay turbo. So yes people hate on ebay parts because many parts suck. Used turbo kits for sale here are always a better buy. But try it out and be smart about the tune and you might have a fun 200whp miata with not much coin. This site is full of good info once you read a bunch..

triple88a 01-18-2014 05:00 PM

Nah this manifold is made by older chinese kids. Thats why its still cheap but very high quality. Even some of the begi and FM manifolds hit the block once in a while while the TACOTACO kit never does.

locomonkeyboricua 01-18-2014 05:01 PM

Look up member by name. Dcvn. He did a lot of custom work on ebay kit but he got some real good results. Nothing on ebay is bolt up and good to go. If you cant fabricate or weld I would just get a used kit. I got some turbo parts for sale all name brand if your interested. Good luck.

I was really surprised you didn't do a shameless plug for your mediocre parts you can't seem to unload for the last forever in post 40. You only hinted at it.

But you redeemed yourself in post 42.

locomonkeyboricua 01-18-2014 05:15 PM

Lol . Man you drank that hateraid today 18. I remeber a long time ago when you where just starting with turbo miatas . You wanted to meet my friend sleepermx5 in sac. You know the guy with 300whp 1.6 miata. Lets just say when I met him his miata was stock. So I never get mediocre parts. I been in the turbo miata game for a long time. But some people just like to talk junk for no reason. If hks garrett and artech is mediocre then yes thats me.

sprocket 01-19-2014 03:34 AM

not to be an A hole but... I do not understand this at all. There is a sticky in this section giving you plenty of reasons to pass on this kit. two threads down from this thread there is one warning you about buying an ebay turbo kit. so you directly quote that thread in the title of this new pointless thread asking if you should get one. :dunno:

NA4Life 01-19-2014 03:45 AM

Because there's so many different answers but no one used it but that one guy they think cuz it's from eBay the hole kit is shit but from what iv found it's just the manifold

Well, to answer your question, the "kit" is crap. Various people on here use the turbo aka churbo, and it does well+saves you a bit of money. Like the others have stated in many other threads, piecing one together is the best way to save money and have a reliable car. It has also been recommended to me in the past to start out with a megasquirt and get familiar with that before moving on. Simply stated if you don't have the money to put decent parts on your vehicle, you have no business modifying the vehicle. Cheers

Fast Cheap Reliable pick 2<----pick 2
Read read some more and then some more...the search button is your best friend :)

Check out the Begi shanghai starter kit(churbo but it seems to be somewhat reliable and comes with a decent cast manifold that is proven to work well)

eBay IC (prepare for some fab work and fitment issues)

Don't cheap out on engine management! Megasquirt is cheap and there is a ton of support for it on this forum. Start learning how to tune before the turbo install otherwise you can run into serious issues and possible destroy your motor.

Read the DIY FAQ!!! This was incredibly helpful to me and I still refer to it while I continue to sort out my build plan.

Thank you your the first one to really help me everyone else just thinks im stupid and don't want to help and I know nothing about tubros iv never done anything with them.

Everything I mentioned in my post was found on this site from searching, the reason these guys are messing with you is that they've dealt with this question numerous times and are tired of having to repeat themselves over and over. I'm not trying to put you down or anything like that but have you searche? Read the DIY Faq? Read threads of note in beginners luck? These will answer 95% of any questions you may have. It takes a long time but it's worth it. These guys who are screwing with you have contributed soo much USEFUL info to this forum with write ups and build threads that makes it easier for people like you and I to build a system that will function properly on a budget. They've went through the hard part of trail and error to make life easier for the rest of us, when a question that has been asked a million times is asked again they will have some fun.

Good luck with whatever route you choose to go, just take the time to research and it will save you time and money in the end.

foxyroadster 01-19-2014 11:07 AM

the ilovetacotaco kit is crap, plain and simple. https://www.miataturbo.net/prefabbed...bay-kit-76846/

Handsome Greg 01-19-2014 11:49 AM

I would be interested in links to the most terrible, eBay-tastic, ghetto rig builds.

What's the worst you've seen?

I think it will be okay if this thread veers off topic a bit. Maybe it will help.

I'm assuming you're of the age where you can read and think of your own? If so click here https://www.miataturbo.net/prefabbed-turbo-kits-3/ and start reading at other threads. If you dont have time for that you do not have time to turbo a car.
