Take a peek at the TrackDog Racing kit instructions online. they use modded stock brackets....takes a little drill/dremel action but you can mimic it exactly easily. Was actually way easier than I anticipated. Only problem I found was finding an intercooler that was the 'perfect' size with same side inlet/outlet, so I just had a custom one made. CXracing got a few that will work.

I've decided to go the later headlight route. The early NB headlights are pretty ordinary when it comes to light output anyway.

There’s easily room for 2.5" IC piping with 98-01 headlights. You only have to trim small plastic part from the headlight housing.

Depends on the combination you are running. Headlight obstruction is one thing, hole size is another.

The 99/00 hole is slightly smaller than the 01-05, plus the 99/00 headlights are also deeper than the 01-05. You should have juuuuust enough room for a 2" charge pipe on a (98)99/00 with the headlight upgrade but it will be tight and it will depend on the angle. I test fit mine the other day (00 with MSM headlights) and it looks like it needs a little trim. Aluminum or silicone will need to be protected against rubbing the edges of the hole or it WILL wear through.

I just finished putting '04 MSM headlights and '03 nose on my car. I've got a full parts list at home with Mazda PNs for all the crap you'll need, let me know and I can post it up. If you do the headlights, do yourself a favor and do the nose as well or it'll look like ass. 99/00 with 01+ headlights is not as easy a 'direct swap' as some would have you believe, IF you want to do it right and have it look good.

I'll definitely get a new bumper cover. I went the ultra lazy route and bought some MSM intercooler pipes. :)

Hah, I almost did the same thing! I've got a box with all the plumbing from an '05 MSM sitting in the garage. Everything from the turbo to the throttle body including the IC. The plan was to use that (rotrex IATs are stupid low so I figured the tiny IC wouldn't hurt too much) but then I got a killer deal on a real IC and then found Mobius build thread. It looked too easy to NOT try. Only downside is that it is a bit more expensive.

These are the little guards that tie the bumper inlet ducting to the nose.

Front lower inner fender liners. The outer edge is profiled a little differently, the nose on the 01-05 is slightly wider so there is a gap between the 99/00 liners and these 01-05 liners.

there are a couple other part numbers...
2x N066-50-M15 Seal, RUBBER $1.80
2x N066-50-M25 Seal, RUBBER $1.80
These are little rubber seal things that stick to the nose and keep things from rubbing and damaging the paint. I ordered them because I'm crazy, but I won't apply them until after I get my nose painted.

My MSM headlights were REALLY hard to pop into place, I believe there might be a different part number for the square plastic headlight mounts. I eliminated the plastic bushing thinguses and slipped a short piece of vacuum tube or windshield fluid tube over the steel studs on the headlights and they slipped right in.

The MSM radiator support brackets are different to incorporate the charge pipe mounting brackets by the way.

If I were going to start over, I would get slim fans and go over the radiator. It's simple, short, and really easy to do. I think you need the slim fans though if you're going to keep AC.

fit fine for me, im using big 2.5" piping with plenty of extra space. even have big FM front sway bar, fits fine, wasn't anything tricky about it at all.

again, for me...following along with the TDR instructions made it super easy.
