Ok so I went to Home-Depo, Autozone, Napa and NONE of them had a 23/32 drill bit nor did any of them have a -8an or -10an braied line nor did they have any items for a braied feed line.... sigh... so i was going to buy that kit from JSG or whatnot but their site seems to be down and even with that kit I still need a 23/32 drill bit.

*doh wish i could edit the title Im an idot I mean Oil Pan not Oil Drain Pan... crap to many hours working at Oil Can Henrys with their stupid call downs "Oil Pan Drain Plug" ahh cursed*

 

Most rental centers will rent a 1/2" NPT Tap and drill bit.

 

23/32" isnt really the same size as a 1/2" is it?

 

go to the local fastenal the home crapo or auto nothing never have anything i need either you need to identify the stores in your area that deal in real nuts and bolts stuf esp for fittings. I got my lines made at the local parker store. any hydraulic place should be able to do the same and even some speed shops.

 

I didn't have any luck finding that drill bit at any store, even the mom and pop ones. If your not in a hurry to install it might be easy to order it online. I was told to check a plumbing store, but I never did. As for the braided line I went to my local speed shop, but not all areas have one. Good luck!

as for the braided lines said F it going to just use the stock line but none the less still need a freaking 23/32 bit.. Napa had one but was like 35 bucks or some crap cus it was a "real" nice one. So if I cant find this stupid bit is there any other options or ghetto ways to do this?

 

I went to sears and got a 7/8ths inch step bit. Was titanium coated and cost $40, so obviously not the bit for you. But if you could find a step bit like it for less will work. Far from the best method, but it got the job done. And 23/32 is closer to 3/4. Half would be 16/32. I think 3/4 is too large tho.

 

Now does everyone see why I offer to send my bit and tap out to everyone?

 

Surprised you are having trouble finding the bit. It is a standard size for the 1/2" NPT fitting. Seems any plumbing shop would have them. Was offered one at NAPA when doing the first oil pan tap and bought the 1/2 x 3/4 fitting. Already had a complete bit set and didn't need another one.

Also works with the $3 1/2 x 5/8 fitting at Home Depot. Will probably only use it one time in your life, the aluminum is very easy to drill into and super quality is not needed.

 

I had better luck finding a 11/16" bit. Which is a 22/32", close enough.

But my offer always stands for people to borrow my set if they promise to return it. 2 people have taken me up on that so far, and I did Newbsauce's with it, and will probably loan it to Rappadan next weekend.

 

yeah got the 1/2 x 3/4 fitting sadly they were out of the copper ones so i got the steel one for like 5 bucks but the only 23/32 they have is like super nice and spendy and well for a one time use I dont really want that.
