Default Please critique my build plan (BEGi-S, EMB)

Well, after lurking for over two years, I finally have the means to get boosted, so I think it's high time I lay out my build plan for everyone to make fun of, and then later make this into a build thread.

I want to go with a base Begi-S kit; it's cheap, I already have a collection of parts to use for intercooling, fueling, etc. when the time comes.

Here's what I've got already:

Emanage Blue - Installed
Supra 305cc pnp injectors
6:1 FMU
A bunch of piping/couplers and a couple intercoolers
More junk (tiny turbo, mani, random stuff) that will appear in the FS soon.

Like I mentioned earlier, I think I'm going to get a Begi-S kit. I'm hoping I can opt out of the included FMU to save some $$ since I already have the 6:1 FMU. Starting out I'm going to just run 6psi (we have 93 octane here) and then install an intercooler later (probably the next weekend since I know all I have to do is put a few turns on the MBC for more power). I'll also be getting a wbo2, thinking LC-1. I've seen the LC-1 wired into and EMB before into the MAP/boost sensor port. Anyone have tips on this or will I just have to do some guess & check?

For exhaust, I'm going to either hook it up to the stock exhaust or preferrably just run off the DP. There isn't emissions testing around here and there are plenty of lifted trucks w/glasspacks that are loud as hell around here, so I think my only worries will be smelling like exhaust and not being able to hear anything. We'll see how that goes.

So, correct me if I'm wrong, the 305s, EMB, and FMU should have me good for 180-190whp tops, no?

Now, I know a lot of you will yell at me to go MSPNP, and I'll agree with you there, I should and will someday, but not right now. Cash is limited, so is my time to work on the car. Plus it's my only car, so I want to avoid delving into too many new things at once since I gotta drive it to work the Monday after I boost it.

So, those are my plans. I think I'll order the BEGi kit soon as I've been seeeing threads lately about shipping issues with them, and I want to install it as soon as it's warm enough outside.

So that's what I've got. Please be gentle.

Seriously, dump the 6:1 fmu and order the S kit with the BEGi AFPR. Just do it. You'll thank yourself later for the small investment now. When you are ready to go full standalone, you can sell it for as much as you bought it for.

Your band-aids can get you to 10-11 psi if you add a high pressure fuel pump. Without the aftermarket fuel pump, you're looking at maybe 8 psi tops.

Would that be a high pressure as in a Walbro 190HP or just the regular one? I was under the impression that the HP was too much for the stock FPR. I must do more fuel system related searches.

save more pennies and get MS. Its worth the cash in my experience just for the simplicity.

the LC 1 goes into the TPS port NOT the map port. when your pushing boost you want to map against boost NOT the AFM which isnt linear.

you wont NEEd a FMU to run 6 psi on 305's. an intercooled 6 psi will easily be ok with just the 305's. if you want more just hook in some 370cc like im running.

Having said that. the megasquirt is the best solution for management at the moment. if it had been around when i did the turbo i wouldnt have got the EM

WeLL, lol,
I undestand cheap and budget. You can make what you have work. And you can get assorted upgrade disk used from people all the time. As long as you have a wideband, and what your afrs, rock it.
I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT EM!
But I do like bandaids when used properly. After you set them up, you just turn the key. You can run more than 6psi with your setup. And if you are only wanting 7psi, You don't really need a intercooler yet. But once you get the IC, You will turn it up the same day.

But please get a wideband. It is as important as anything else you buy. You are running into traffic with a bag over your head without it. LOL
My friend was too cheap to buy one. His car ran like crap, no matter which way he tuned it.
He finally bought a WBO2. It turned out his new ebay afpr didn't work. It was a blessing that it didn't blow up.

As far as EM, There is a large group of emanage people on here to help you.

Call begi up they may hook you up for just the mani, turbo, & lines. But unless you have a complete kit for the IC, that takes time to make. And may turn into a longer than one weekend thing. Good Luck!
