Default potential purchase, turbo miata, how much power should i see?

here is the ad: http://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/1706823413.html
Quote:
2002 Mazda Miata - Turbo charged with several other mods. Under 80,000 miles. Normal wear, non-smoker, I always had it garaged.I bought this car as a project and had a wonderful time doing it, but now it is time to move on to other projects/toys Currently, the car is sitting on a relative's dealer lot available for sale in Gastonia, NC, while I am in St. Louis, MO.
Mods:
1) Begi (Bell Engineering) Series 5 Turbo kit - the best one on the market, including the largest available intercooler, oil and liquid cooled Garrett turbo charger with external wastegate, Ceramic coated exhaust manifold, custom pre-cat exhaust to accomodate the setup. Xede EMS fuel management. The system has never been run over 10 psi but the wastegate spring can be changed to increase power if you need it.

From the Maker's Website:
The BEGi Turbo System features components not found in any other systems. The most obvious parts are the scooper, radiator cover, and the cool air box. The power improvements come from the new downpipe, larger intercooler, and exhaust manifold improvements unprecedented in turbocharging. The downpipe is stainless steel, and features a new power improving design. Many of the power improvements are evident in the details. Temperature reductions through out the system have also received special attention. The water and oil lines to the turbo are more heat tolerant, well beyond the requirements. The system also features t-bolt hose clamps on the boost tubes. The larger intercooler has sheet metal endtanks with a bar and plate core. The kit comes with black powder coated tubes, and black turbo hose.

Many of the engineering features we have created in these systems will find their way into the "kit maker" industry standards. This is clearly all part of the fun.

Have you ever wondered how close attention we paid to detail? Here is the answer - there is only one intercooler tube that can be used on two different year cars. Every single tube has been designed to fit that year car and that year car only. Some people might call it a little much, we call it easier to install.

System Features:

Garrett GT2860 Turbo with Oil and Water Cooling
Ceramic Coated Turbine Housing
Cast Ductile Iron Exhaust Manifold, No EGR Fitting - Ceramic Coated!
Stainless Steel Separated Gases Downpipe
Stainless Steel Braided Oil Feed and Water Lines at the Turbo
Stainless Steel Oil Drain Line
Intercooler # 3 (custom sizes available)
Tial External Wastegate, typically the 38 mm
Cool Air Box
Radiator Cover (1990-1997 Only)
Air Scooper
Water By-Pass System
Coolant Re-Route
Power Steering Cooler (1999-2004 Only)
Turbo Heatshield
Compressor Inlet Tube Heatshield
Black Powdercoated Tubes
K & N Air Filter
Heater Line Heat Wrap
Boost Gauge
A-Pillar Gauge Mount
Black Turbo Hose

2) Hard Dog Roll Bar - Double Diagnoal.
3) Four wheel Big Brake Kit - From Flyin' Miata with Wilwood calipers and slotted rotors.
4) Rota wheels - Charcoal, very cool on the car.
5) Flyin' Miata Butterfly Brace - Stiffening brace for the chassis.
I have invested over $6-8K into the car and have done all the work myself, so I know the quality. You can contact my relative's dealership (704-853-8233) to look at the car between 9-6. If you need technical information about the car, you can email me through craigslist.
Dealership: 704-853-8233,
Thanks.
it looks nice, and has a nice turbo on there, but the motor is a stock 1.8, he said he put a clutch on, and the brakes are done up and everything. but id really want to see a 300+ hp or tq number...

my dream is to stuff an ls3 in there, but if i can get there with a turbo id do it without hesitation.

there are a few cars on there that are 250+ with that setup at 12 and 13 psi... so im starting to believe that its possible to put the car into the 300-350 range, the question then is, can stock internals take it... and if not. is it then cheeper to put in a v8 than a forged and turbo charged miata?

With larger injectors and a fuel pump my car which is also for sale is capable of over 300 rwhp.
Mine's cheaper, has a built motor, suspension, better wheels, and what I feel is a superior engine management.

Shameless plug.

Located in Auburn, AL. I'm not scared to ship the car either.
I can provide a dyno graph this week, dynapack dyno.

Check out some of the build threads here for some real-world info on a V8 swap and its difficulty.

Check out the dyno section for some info on the GT28 turbos. They can definitely make over 300WHP.

Stock internals will not handle anything near 350WHP. Search is your freind.

That car is good for 250whp at 12-14psi or so as it sits with a great tune by somebody who know's Xede well. You don't mention the exhaust, but I'll suspect it's a production 2.5" at least... maybe even 3". I don't know anybody who makes 300whp on Xede, and only a few people have made 300whp on a 2860... and I don't know how many of those on a VVT motor.

It looks like all production parts and well chosen for a pretty sweet street car. It should be reliable and easy. Personally, I wouldn't **** with it other than to confirm who tuned it and to see the datalogs and dyno sheets. That car is actually a great deal if you consider the price of all his aftermarket parts new are about $9k, and the BB of a used low mileage 2002 LS is gotta be about the same. Plus, he'll probably take less if you show up with cash. Assuming $11.5k-$12k is realistic, it's actually a great deal for a car that should be good for a very long time at 250whp driven responsibly for somebody looking for a vehicle they don't ever have to **** with.

If you're actually got $13k and are looking for 300whp, this car is not the place to start... it's really too nice.

A stone reliable OTS mani/DP 200whp is like a $4000 deal, complete with a big radiator and gauges. You should expect to double that price for a stone reliable 300whp, and those prices assume you do the legwork and labor yourself.

I'd buy his car in a heartbeat ^^^^^^^^^^

Xede is less than spectacular and seems like a PITA by the peope I know who have used it. BEGi's cold air box and turbo heat shields weight as much as a small moon.

As far as power goes, it's possible to make 280-300rwhp. I know I was at 250 (ok 249.8) @ 11psi....but that was before the 3" exhaust and before I turned the wick up to 12.5 psi. I'm thinking I'm in the 265 hp range...on a stock 02 engine.
