Default question on turbo+light flywheel

ok, heres my scenerio , i hit 7-8 psi in 1st, 2nd, 8-9 psi in 3rd, and finally 10 psi in 4th and 5th

why dont i hit 10 psi in all gears?

im guessing because of the 7lbs flywheel

whatdo you guys think

Thats weird. While im still running on the WG (8psi) I know for sure I would hit atleast 10 psi in first.

I run a Fidanza in mine, no problem getting full boost in any gear.

If it's any consolation, as a general rule fourth is considered "high boost gear" by many. Something about having enough load on the engine.

the faster you accelerate, the harder it is for the turbo to keep up. since 1st gear with a lightened flywheel goes by in a flash, the turbo doesnt spool up. same with second and so on. you'll make more boost faster in 4th and 5th.

if the motor is spinning faster, then the wheels must be too.

Can you post a video of your miata tearing it up on the roads. I wanna see how it performs with a threes inch and 10psi and + now a 7 pound flywheel.

Thats what I was thinking...as long as it is making some boost...its making power, its just getting out of first faster...so...?

I also have a Fidanza Flywheel, and I find first is my most likely gear to overboost (15 psi). Go figure.

Sorry, Sig doesn't seem to work, It's a '97 with FMII Hydra. GT2560RS, FM Cat and 2.5" FM turbo single exhaust.

Sig seems to work now

with a disco potato too, beats me. I've got a 9lb flywheel, we'll see if I have any issues shortly.

I heard from someone that if you can't afford a fancy flywheel, it's beneficial and quite easy to have a machine shop lighten the stock flywheel. Is this accurate? Does anyone have any links to more info?
