AFAIK, he used to make the Racing Mazda 2.5" Bellmouth DPs and started making them on his own at some point.

Joe Perez 08-26-2007 11:44 AM

Lowest price: Tony

Divorced wastegate return: Bell

Build quality: Pretty much equal

Mimime 08-26-2007 12:03 PM

So anyone would say Performance its pretty much in PAR?

shinobix 08-26-2007 01:23 PM

yea i have a tony, i think the only other benefit u have if u go with a begi dp is that they can make it in stainless steel... if you baller enough to throw down the dough.

reckless_abandon 08-26-2007 05:34 PM

i've had nothing but problems with begi since day one.
poor quality to the maxx.

neogenesis2004 08-26-2007 05:45 PM

you're the only one ive ever heard of with any problems.

1991BRG 08-26-2007 06:43 PM

The BEGI downpipe is nice. I currently own the stainless steel version.

Reckless,

Just what sort of problem were you having with your Begi? Do you mind to share?

firedog25 08-26-2007 11:06 PM

I have the Tony pipe in 2.5" flavor. It's two piece slip joint with a flex in the second piece. Nice part. :)

reckless_abandon 08-26-2007 11:23 PM

first thing is that the holes on the flange didnt line up to the studs on the turbo.
the top peice of the pipe comes down and presses up against the engine block.
the bottom peice doesnt even come close to lining up with the cat.
and i suspect the devorced wastegate tube isnt lined up with the wastegate, and is holding it closed.

i've never seen anything quite like it.
after telling them what happened, corky didnt call me back, and stephanie doesnt return my emails.

cjernigan 08-26-2007 11:31 PM

So when you call them daily to resolve the issue do they hang up on you?

Wow, since I am located in Hong Kong. If the fact I gone through the same kinds of problem, I'll be pissing in my pants. Not to mention the freight cost going back to forth, but the labour and down time for the car. :td:

turbobluemiata 08-27-2007 12:56 AM

so where do you buy the tony downpipe???

i get "i'll get corky to give you a call"

akaryrye 08-27-2007 01:33 AM

Hey you arent the only one who has had minor issues with BEGI, When I recieved my turbo kit, the downpipe was missing the O2 sensor bungs, which turned out to not be a huge deal and I welded it where I wanted it to be. I dont know how it would have gone if I chose to have them resolve the issue but im sure they would have helped. Sometimes you gotta call a couple times on stuff like this as people can honestly just be really busy and forget about this sort of thing.
