1badMX5 was using 1600cc injectors with his E85 setup, if that counts.

um that alchohol bullshit takes nearly twice as much fuel to be viable man. So it's equivalent to 800 cc or so.

E85 is only 30% more fuel, not 50%

1100cc

I have 1000cc injectors sitting on my desk. We will see how they work out, I'm scared of them, lol. I am thinking that i will use an injector driver board and go with hi-res on my ms1.

I said Nearly that can quantify a rather large swing. Even so i wouldn't use that bullshit to burn down the house of someone i hated much less put it in my car. It is a waste of our time and money. There are so many other more profitable things we can do that dont involve out modeing everything i own.

I'm not trying to start an ethanol debate, Magna, and yes I know E85 has less energy than gasoline, that's why I mentioned that his setup ran E85. Just saying, he was running 1600cc injectors, that's all.

He should just fab up a custom 2 fuel rail set up with the stock injectors in one and the larger/ whatever size injectors in the other and only run the large injectors under boost. I was thinking about doing this so I could have a better/ leaner idle. and wouldnt have to buy larger than 550 injectors.

I've been having a look at the turbos. I've been looking at the GT3071R. This is internally wastegated.

I've seen the turbo here eBay Motors: Garrett GT3071R T3 4 Bolt GT 4" Compressor 500HP AR.82 (item 160293931970 end time Apr-20-09 11:29:27 PDT)

Would this work with the following manifold and downpipe?

M-Tuned Miata Shorty Tubular Manifold 1.6L M-Tuned

BEGI Miata Turbo Separated Gases Downpipe 1989-1993 BEGi

Or is there a better setup?

Injectors I've looked at these 800cc ones eBay Motors: 4# Mazda Miata 89-97 Turbo 800cc Injectors (item 110369632424 end time Apr-26-09 08:15:18 PDT)

could I get away with 660cc injectors?
eBay Motors: 4# Mazda Miata 89-97 Turbo 660cc Injectors (item 130298720216 end time May-07-09 07:33:39 PDT)

will they be suitable?

whiles I'm rebuilding the engine should I put in this oil pump Blueprinted oil pump, Billet gears Miata - oilpump

or fit a standard one?

thanks for you help

On such a large turbo I'd only use an external wastegate.
Dont know 100% about fitment to mani/dp
a better setup would be a custom manifold and downpipe with external gate
dont know about the injectors
you can get away with 660cc's or even 550's, it all depends on what kind of boost you're planning on running and how much fueling you will need.

boundary engineering has the gears as well man if you plan on making good power you would do well to use them. The manifold would work for you as far as i can see. I second the external wastegate opinion it will make high boost controll alot easier for you. Some 660's would probly be easier to get ideling etc, and still be able to make your power gaols. See my math in the above post to better help you understand this. The more stuff like this you learn the cheaper and more relaible your setup will be.

m-tuned can supply a manifold with the option of a port for an external wastegate. What would be the difference of it on the manifold rather than the downpipe?

Do you know if Garrett can supply the turbo with or without the wastegate? I don't really want to weld the gate shut on the turbo

I'm not sure of levels of boost, what ever will take me close to 400. It would be easier to use the 550cc injectors as they're already in and will save me money. I think the injectors will be maxed out at 350hp though running at 80% duty?

cheers

Ok bought the following this weekend:

800cc injectors
Aquamist 2D
Aquamist DDS3
ARP Head and Main studs
Aluminium Radiator
GT3071R + Tial External Wastegate
255l Walbro Fuel Pump.

Most of this stuff is coming from the US so will take a week or so to arrive.

Waiting on M-tuned sending me paypal request for the coolant reroute and manifold. Not going to bother with the upraded oil pump but will certainly put a new mazda one in.

I already have the Supertech pistons and rods.

This weekend (with a friend), we stripped the diff and gearbox out of my car. We stripped down the spare engine I had and was going to use this, but it has the short nose crank on it. I hadn't checked my engine, but we pulled this out tonight and this has the long nose crank on it so we're probably going to use this engine in stead. It just means we wasted a night stripping the short nose engine when we can't use it. I don't know what to do with this engine now as it is in pieces.

I have some pics, but they've been taken on the iphone and the light wasn't good so they're not that good.

I'll update the post tomorrow with some pics

I forgot to say, could someone just confirm the standard piston size on a 1.6 mk1?

I bought the pistons etc 2nd hand, but they're brand new. I was told they're standard size.

Could someone also confirm the compression ratio? I can't find the code on belfab's website

The code on the box is P4-MA790-N10

cheers

That part number comes up as .040 over (79mm) and either 8.5 or 8.8:1 depending on which source you trust. Belfab says 8.5, importperformanceparts says 8.8.
Interesting to see that Belfab raised the price on their 1.6 piston set by $40 in the last week or so...
