Ahh now I must stop myself from buying more stuff from sav. ><

I'd use clevite. The wait for ACL is very long.

My opinion - ACL > Clevite 77 > King.
From me lurking and reading around about the subject.

Someone is putting nice bearings, usually with nice internals I'm sure, doesn't change their oil or even use **** oil? Come on now. :P

Clevite bearings in mine. I also have them in my 8000 rpm small block Mopar. I have never had a bearing failure. Although both cars do run oil coolers and the Miata uses a Moroso remote oil filter with a big *** GM filter on it. To each there own.

If the big guys in Cali do it for their car, I'll do the same and don't worry about it....

Now please find me main STD bearings and I'll pay the beer + parts !

Sav,
Would you keep or get rid of the stock water oil cooler when installing this?

There's no one "correct" place to put the cooler, so the best solution is to just send you a bunch of line and fittings and have you decide exactly where to mount the cooler. N/A cars should put it in direct airflow in front of the radiator. Turbo cars should put it above the intercooler. Turbo cars with A/C should get creative.

Parts list:
  • Mocal sandwich plate with 180* T-stat, 1/2"BSP to -10AN adapters, and proper Dowty seals
  • 10ft of Setrab -10AN line
  • two Setrab -10AN male 90deg hose ends (sandwich plate side)
  • two Setrab -10AN M22 male 90deg hose ends (cooler side)
  • Setrab 6-series cooler with proper Setrab-specific rubber isolated mounting bracket

Three options for cooler size:

10-row for N/A cars in direct airflow (or ducted). $400
16-row for turbo cars in direct/ducted airflow. $430
25-row for those individuals with questionable judgement. $475

10 row in front, 25 in back
I do have a LONG brand oil cooler, seems to work well with spal fan, oil when turbo wasn't too hot. Didn't like the need of Spal fan for it thought.

Here's what I have : IMG_20130717_090207.jpg?t=1374087501

How I do plan the future install :
Sanstitre.png?t=1374087543

But I do need an engine and for that ACL race main bearings... find me one please !!!!! Going back to call different shop and Miata teams...

Sorry, there's no comparison between the tube/plate style that you have and the Setrab style. I've used both and you can get away with a Setrab that's 1/3 the size of a tube/plate cooler to get the same amount of cooling done.

OEMs use Setrabs for a reason.

I do have the one I just I bought but I need to open it to know what happened at Tremblant, rod gone or wrist pin and check if there's damage...

Sav, I know it should be more efficient then what I got, on the wish list for this winter... great product development, thank you guys.

Mahle is the owner of ACL and Clevite from I read... clevite 77 tri metal are not available for miata... bummer
