Just curious, do you put any stock in something like this Hybrid S system w/ 3 point? Obviously nothing replaces a full cage, racing seat, harness, hans, etc. If this falls under lighting $1200 on fire for a half baked system, so be it, but there's going to be a certain amount of compromise regardless as this car is my daily driver. It's not getting a cage, although plans are to get a fully caged car (and pending SuperMiata expanding maybe build for S2, but SM is huge in Texas). I'm also planning on getting in to instructing at some point, so this easily move from car to car regardless of safety equipment.

Do all or none. IE, 6pt w/o HNRS is bad.

6pt
FIA containment seat bolted in, not on sliders
HNRS

Figured as much from the reading I've done. Cool. Can always port it over to a real rasskar later.

A single car incident like this puts it in perspective...

I know of several mistakes in this lap, but I'm looking for all the solid feedback I can get. Though, I realize most of you haven't been to the this track, where all can I go faster?

^^^^^^^ Looks good here. How did you fair against your competition?

Sidenote, spun away a 1st place finish. Got got by 2 spec e30s and 3 spec miatas(which I thought were ttd).......... Oh well a spin is a spin and I have all season to make it better. Went out on 2015 stickers, didn't bother to heat cycle them and was stuck behind a spec e30 1 session and a sm the other, 1st session was black flagged. Good weekend, new wheels too.

Yeah, nothing I can really pickup from watching the video, especially not knowing the track. Would need data to even get a an idea. Looked like a damn good lap though and that track looks fun!

I went out to TWS again last weekend for DE. On new alignment with less camber split it was LOOOOOOSSSEEEE as hell, 600/450 finally bit me looping it in the first session. Disconnected rear sway, which wasn't horribly understeery, but I went from gingerly placing the car in corners under braking to slinging it in with no ***** given and ended up matching my NASA TT lap (bout 2 seconds off TTE record, 1 second off NASA SM)....so basically I need to get a big boy suspension and alignment and quit screwin' around with koni sports at -2 degrees camber.

I won with the usual two other suspects there. I barely beat my typical stiff competition(SE30 champ driving a TTE e30). Speaking of, actual SE30s and SMs are TTD unless the SE30 added about 100lbs of ballast or if the SM cars are low on power and have a dyno reclass. I typically have to pass people on entry to get around them, once I do I'm able to stay motivated to pull away. Even if you spun, you know what you and your car do. So go out there next time and go faster :-D

I still couldn't imagine running no rear sway-bar on track. I did it once at Road Atlanta and about poo'd my pants coming into T12 like I normally do. High speed under-steer isn't fun! Though it sounds like you're working around your current setup, so whatever works.

Only thing I'd mention is to not ask for bumps from cars that have a 15mph delta

It's been a while since I've run CMP and you're a lot better. Only thing that stuck out was the turnin for 8 looked a bit slow, you clipped the curb which made it have more drama than it needed. I'd have to defer to data though to know for sure.

Heh, no bumps in TT. The motion was a hope for a draft of some sort, lol. I was also excited because I saw green out of the corner of my eye on the timer, but I didn't know by how much at the time.

Thanks for the note on T8, I basically thought the same thing so that helps reconfirm it. If I'm able to turn in and easily grab the curb, I'm not going fast enough. Needing to brake later for sure.

Probably should have just found a good 4.3 open (last one I got gears were trashed), but a shop in Dallas (Inertia Lab) had some MFactory 4.44's and gave me a good deal on install. John (owner) popped by my place yesterday to finish installing the ring gear/torsen and setting backlash. Excited to give these a go at Hallett in a couple of weeks. Figured they'd be a good balance between street/track duty since 4.78's would be WAY too aggressive on the interstate.

Ms3 - $900+$500 tune. +3 points or reclass
-----------------
4.7 - $300 ish. 0 points more.

Which would be a more worthy mod? Car has intake, header, exhaust 4.3 oem ecu. I feel the oem lsd acting like an open diff a lot.

Ideally, both.

If if you have to pick one, what is your current, actual, p:w? Do you have the points to spare?

The ecu allows you to shape your curve and potentially run e85. That's huge at the pointy end.

The gear plays best with a raised rev limit, so I'd probably do ecu first.

Both, and roll with a street tune until dyno is in budget? VE Analyze makes it pretty easy to tune as long as you're starting with good AFR/Timing. Once pump tune is good to go add 30% required fuel for e85 and let VE Analyze clean it up a bit. Assuming your injectors can handle it, my NA8 injectors couldn't and were hitting 100% duty cycle by 5-5.5k rpm. I think it'd be hard not to make a good bit more power than OEM ECU.

My MFactory 4.44's are whining and I get a rumble at 60mph, so have to dig in to that with Hallett coming up soon. Some whine is expected as they're semi-helical vs helical, but not sure what normal is. If I can't get these to play nice going back to 4.1 again and might just make the switch to 6 speed. Wasted +3 points, I know, but for a dual duty car it gives nice short gearing, but keeps the highway gear. I'm having **** luck with FD's.

EDIT: Side note, do poly bushings (differential) introduce a need for "better" ppf alignment? Wondering if the rumble is more from improper pinion/driveshaft alignment. Wouldn't think so since it wasn't an issue beforehand, but spit balling.

I am scheming for a single 2017 NASA TTE entry at Mid Ohio in August. The car exists, is already caged and chopped, the parts and tires are available. There would be zero investment other than labor to swap parts around:

What does the hivemind think of this potential combo:

Zero asterisk reclass
205 tires -7
Hoosier R7s +10
Shocks +3
Springs +2
LSD +3
Removal of windshield +7
cut rear bumper +1 (because last point)
19/19

Luke(Efini) and I had a lot of fun at Road Atlanta this weekend!

Note, this session is our second session on Sunday, our first session had the times posted above, still hilariously close and I always enjoy the competition, keeps me pushing for more!

It was really damn hot and the sun was baking the track all weekend. So I don't think anybody was putting up typical fast times. Our practice session on Saturday had some of the fastest times. I drove a really timid 1:44.9 and ended up with a 44.4 optimal time for the weekend. So it was nice to see I was back near my PB since that was my first time back to the track since I wrecked there last August.

A lesson in how not to win TTE: Drive straight off the track on your "flyer" lap.

That is all...

Hey, been awhile since we last talked. Data would help...Lap looks good, have you tried the single apex line from T12 to T14? Also, does your data back up that 2nd is faster through 14? I couldn't get 2nd to work reliably there, but it's been a couple of years since I have been to CMP now.

No input, but sounds like a fun car!

4.44's appear to be bad, so going to go ahead and go 4.78's. The time at which I'll need to buy a daily/road trip beater is quickly approaching Really wish the TT5/6 rules would hurry up and manifest. I feel like my already meager 124whp is going to look even worse for TT6 and need to start figuring that hooplah out.
