Hell of a drive Dan! I knew the car felt good by the last session on Saturday(the actual dry one), but I was driving like poop. Great to see you take the car into the 2:14s at that track, 2:13s are 100% possible. I double checked, Dan's 2:14.8xx was the 18th heat-cycle on those tires..... the same tires he drove at Mid-Ohio last August
I'm looking over video now.

My mere mortal driving Actually, I drove worse than I normally do. Had a mental block going on after just finishing all the work on the car, conditions changing, and starting new job the Monday after the event lol. Last time I started a job right after track day, I ran the car into the wall.

I knew how much min speed I could carry if I could turn in from the correct position/angle. I was over-slowing every lap, and braking twice going into Oak. That lap in particular, I squirted some extra throttle to drive back to the outside before turning in, and it upset the car. A couple mistakes in a row in that sector alone.
A proper Oak Tree would unlock a lot of laptime..
Thanks. Lots of send, but not very clean. A few more laps and...

The car was really good. I felt immediately comfortable.
Part of that is the softer springs with the big bars making for a much more forgiving setup. The OEM bar, 1000lb spring build saves points, which allows for more speed from elsewhere in the build, but is much more of a razor edge to drive. A 1000/400 setup would not allow this much zero countersteer shenanigans on turn in, or mid corner corrections. The heavy front springs require the early phase of the corner to be much more dialed, less send-y.

The 1k spring / stock sway setup is definitely, different. Not sure it suits my driving style as I'm still trying to figure it out, whereas our WRL car (still on SM suspension) is a breeze to drive. About to drop rear from 500 to 400lbs, so hopefully that helps a bit as I find myself sawing too much mid corner as is, but that's also an issue between seat and steering wheel.

Yeah, lots of time out there for me, even wrong gear choice.
I didn't feel comfortable with car/track until this last session on Saturday. 2:16s felt very possible with my meh driving like I did, 2:15s with some more aggression and bravery.
I hope TT6 let's me do my current suspension setup, it's a blast to drive.

Sigh, another weekend of getting stomped even though I got 2nd of 6. At least the car felt great having finally been corner balanced, too bad I forgot to swap my 500# rears for 400#. Went over 2 seconds faster than last year, but was still nearly 2 seconds off the new record (1:29.6 vs 1:27.7). I had an optimal of 1:29.3, so maybe if I wasn't running 10+hc SM7s I'd have a 1:28, but can't see pulling a 1:27.

There's always time out there! I would bet fresh R7s over older SM7s would put you into the 1:27s with the same driving. Which the driving was pretty damn good, brave in several places.

Good times this weekend! A new PB for my at Road Atlanta
This was good for the win on Saturday, a 1:43.615. It was HOT, ~88*, 90% humidity, no overcast. Looking at data from December had ~2mph higher vmax on the back straight, but min speed in T7 on this lap was 1mph up as well. I lost the most time over the standing record(December data) in T3.
Luke also went very fast this weekend, faster than me on Sunday!
