Here is the only video I got, it was the last session and I was going to try to get the gray GTR as he was the fastest of the two GTR's there and I had been hounding his tail a couple sessions before for several laps, so we turned up the psi, but he got away before I could clear the other cars as quick as he did. It wasn't open passing. so had to wait for passing zones Also I can't figure out what happened to the white Mustang GT500, he must have missed a shift but he damn near stopped in the middle of turn 14, almost had a miata for a rear bumper.

Your GT-R looked a little faster than mine. I always went out behind him so I guess it's good he couldn't catch me in 20 minutes

Yeh he was the faster of the two, I got around the red one in session 2 also, but the guy driving the silver one was a really good driver from Texas and I don't think I could have got him, but it was sure fun trying and it had to have been bugging him seeing that red miata on his rear the whole time in session 3.

What a track. I prefer CCW over CW, but I'm not sure I would want to race going CCW - far more opportunity to wad a car up. I got down into the 1:59s going CW, and I don't recall how fast I went CCW.

I'll post up some video later this week once I get caught up at the shop.

I've raced CW twice and CCW once, and I much prefer CCW as well. One of the main reasons I don't like CW as much as the oppertunity to loose the back end coming on to the straight and smash it into the wall. It's interesting that you "fear" CCW more, I don't remember many "oh ----" moments that direction.

This was with the red car? I'm doing 2:13s on all seasons and apparently only 155hp, sounds like you were really cooking. Glad you liked it, can't wait to see some vids.

Yep, red car on NT01s is the standard.

Kind of like this, without the wall-smashiness

I simply burn a second a lap there so I don't need to scrape skidmarks out of my shorts or my car off the wall. Someday I'll have the stones to take that turn at 10/10ths...

I don't think it takes stones, I think it takes downforce. You can't fake what you don't have.

My elbows locked farther

But seriously, for those who haven't driven the track, that corner is also a crest. Without downforce I don't see how one can take it full throttle in a miata at at boosted speed levels.

I would add that it's blind, but I think every corner at that track is blind so it goes without saying.

I've got no downforce but the stones shrink tiny at that particular turn. That is one curb to stay away from too...

I do the same, in fact we were told to do so in the drivers meeting. The possibility of a second off your lap time is not worth the bigger possibility of a wadded up car.

The secret is actually in the curbing before the turn. Hit that, and your wheel will straighten out a bit. This will cause you to dive in for the apex, most likely loosing the rear end. That's what happened in my video. I wouldn't be surprised if you see a little lift on the right side from curbing or a vibration from the curbing in your video Mobius.

The good thing is they got rid of all the boulders in the infield, so going in the grass isn't as much of a deal.

I see what you're saying. That would explain why I missed the apex by so much, which makes everything worse.

There are a lot of curbs at ORP to stay away from. Fortunately, the exit of T14 (CW) is OK as long as you don't go past it. Each time I have walked the track, there has been a wheel eating canyon just past the curbing. You don't want to drop a wheel there. With the boulders gone, the safe thing to do there is to head into the tall grass and hope you don't get any snakes in the cab.

1.59's CW, great time. I think the best I did was 2.02's, but found a shorting out wideband sensor harness when back home in the garage, so might be able to do a little better next year. Have never got to run it CCW, what would be turn 1 would be really fast as you would be going down hill into it.
