That car is white, TSB's car is silver, and that's not a TC cage. My bars curve up very slightly and TSB and I have the same cage (with exception to the door bars).

Honestly, if you can stand 12 hours towing down and you can find a place to stay for a week, I'd make the drive to TC. I don't think I've ever seen a nicer cage than the ones Tony builds.

curly 09-07-2010 04:42 AM

I thought I quoted a picture of TSB's car, I know the white one is from MC.com.

You forgot to add in the price of the cage and install on top of the tow and hotel.

Edit: yup I'm dumb, that there is a white car.

falcon 09-07-2010 01:12 PM

Ya you did post the snowboarders car.

And I emailed miatacage.com. $1100 for the cage with different door bars, and he said on average $1000 worth of labour to install. That right there puts it a few hundred more than what Snowboarder said a TC cage costs. So I can spend that cash on a place for a few days and travel/gas costs.

On problem, is I don't have a truck or trailer. So I would have to drive the car down with my mini trailer behind with my scooter or R6 on it. I could even bring my tires down and do a track day at Laguna after :D...

Nah those are NASCAR bars that protrude into the door.

mmmm.... those are nice. Too bad I can't get that much room between the bar and seat.

Lots of room inside the car, I use the bar as an armrest when I'm in the pits.

Attachment 194496

Lots of headroom to the side bar, it tucks up very close to an OEM hardtop. My cage was built to fit under an OE hardtop just in case.

This is the only cage I've ever been in where I feel comfortable using the dead pedal. Every other car has a full pad there and it makes the dead pedal useless.

Gotpsi? 09-08-2010 11:34 AM

Nice I wish I had the leg room you do,I didn't notice that when I rode in your car but can see how that would help out a lot when driving. I notice mine when waiting on grid I have to keep my foot on the clutch pedal.

I like that front down tube mount. Is that a TC cage as well Sav?

Yes, dead pedal and leg room is key IMO.

Yes, it is. Standard cage with standard NASCAR bars and a crossbar under the dash.

Doooooode, please take a vacuum and a wet rag to your interior. That's hideous!

More pictures to show the cage and its doorbars. Remember, this cage WITH its doorbars had working windows for a while. It was maybe an inch or so away from the doorbars with the door closed. This is the standard TC design fab cage with the addition of nascar style door bars on the passenger side. I also had TC weld together the stock crossbar to the "down tubes?" that go down the A piller.

shlammed 09-09-2010 03:31 PM

does anyone have a full cage and a soft top?

i.e. can you run those buckles with the cross bar at the windsheild in place?

curly 09-09-2010 07:01 PM

No. That's why SM hardtop brackets exist. Look three posts up in the second to last picture, there's no way a stock bracket would work with that bar.

Where's a good cage shop in Southern CA?

I don't understand why you wouldn't just use window clips and do real bars though if the car will be full track within a year.
