Maybe for a fast revving motorcycle, but I don't think any of our engines can rev up and down that fast. It was only a problem towards the end. Looks like an interesting product.

The thing I am wondering about is how easily it can be generically adapted to whatever vehicle.

swales 09-14-2010 09:11 PM

well i wondered that as well. but on there website its say can be used with any machine with a wheel. so i figured for 130 bucks its worth the try. if it doesnt work i can always put it on my sportbike.

Honesty Dimitris, you piss me off sometimes ;)

I'd prefer it in a full colour OLED display, but it's still freaking awesome. Where are you going to mount it?

ZX-Tex 09-15-2010 10:29 AM

I dig it, but last time I looked they were pretty expensive.

I can get OBDII data over bluetooth to my android phone. that's full color oled and has configurable gauges...

Reverant 09-15-2010 01:51 PM

You can get OBD-II data (RPM, CLT, Load, ignition advance) at an impressive 1-2Hz sampling rate. Hurray!

richyvrlimited 09-15-2010 03:26 PM

Wow a whole 1-2hz eh impressive ;)

I'm currently trying to get my head around programming a 4DGL 1.5" OLED screen, but having never programmed before it's rather slow going.

Will be very cool when I'm done though.

I'm still in the process of making my original idea.

i gots one of those aim things from early in the thread.

Attachment 18365

i like the programmable idiot lights. when on track i only look at the shift lights (sometimes) and the idiot lights. if something flashes then i look at the gauges.

you could theoretically add a vdo gauge for fuel pressure and set an idiot light for < 60psi. same deal for wb02. you get 8 channels so u could do 3 temps +3 pressures + fuel level + wb02 (there are only 6 idiot lights, so i guess you have to pick your battles).

i'm currently tring to figure out how to share sensors with ms over can bus so i can datalog.

Why aren't you doing a fuel gauge?

UrbanSoot 09-17-2010 07:27 AM

I don't know about you guys but I prefer analog-style gauges. Digital gauges are just too complicated sometimes. I personally want a big ass tach on my dash and just a few gauges that I can't live without on track. And I want to be able to see them while sun is shining on them without having to look twice. Now that is hard to achieve when you are working with a digital gauge unless you spend a pretty penny on super high contract screen.

9671111 09-17-2010 10:55 AM

I don't have one to mess around with or take dimensions of, but how dumb would it be to hack up a netbook and rig the display up in the dash? Running the TS gauges or something.

That's pretty much what I have in mind for V2, a big analog tacho on the left and an LCD on the right, with all the little details.

I see no use for one
