Default Front Subframe brace

Recently I asked a shop to install the front subframe braces. He said something about 949racing fills the void of the inside void pocket for stiffening. I never heard of this nor seen it.

Is this a myth or anyone doing this?

Lots of people do it. It cures a common problem and is very affordable.

Do you have something that I can refer to regarding the modification made to the brace or process.

What modification? Receive parts, weld to car, profit.

It really is that simple.

Procedure
  1. Turn car upside down
  2. Place Subermiata frame brace in the proper location
  3. Wire wheel surface clean in that area
  4. Weld brace in location
  5. Paint

Some may want to skip step 1 but then you will be working above you.

I am not asking about the install. Sorry if I wasn't clear. My braces are installed. The shop that welded them, asked me if I wanted to fill the inside of the brace .. The reason for the opening in the brace is for inspection and strength. However, the shop said that 949 racing did something with delrin to fill the void .. I was asking about that.

I haven't heard about that, and can't imagine it to be worthwhile.

Have heard nothing about that either. I don't see any point in it.

949 Racing has no Miata parts on the website. You linked to a post from Supermiata with a link to the Supermiata website.. where all the Miata bits are.

949 Racing = wheels for many different cars
Supermiata = Miata parts

Those who scour 949racing.com looking for the item in question might be misled by the frequent branding confusion due to the separate website we crated in 2017 for Supermiata stuff. Thus my clarification.
When you own a company and few different brands having different strategies, you might understand why we do what we do. The OP and greater community didn't otherwise need my help in this thread.

You seem to spend a lot of time being upset by almost everything I post. Clearly you have a grudge against me. Perhaps direct communication with me would clear things up?

My post was in jest, as most are. No upsetting here. I run a lot of your stuff, i like a lot of your posts, and i generally like jokes. I'm sorry if you were taking them personally, though that might explain your need to follow me around on forums making "jouncing" jokes, which i previously just thought was funny, but now.....?

The question at hand isn't who makes the parts. Or who sells the parts.

The question at hand was about whether or not you, whomever you'd like to call yourself in this scenario, recommend filling the void left by these braces with something, such as delrin, as OP's mechanic has mentioned that you, specifically, do. Do you have any insight on that?

Not sure what the reference to Delrin material, 949 Racing, void is. No comment there, perhaps stevos555 can elucidate. The braces pictured are what we use on all our cars, to eliminate or at least reduce, the known failure point.

Right. They're a neat part.

So this is confirmation that you guys do NOT fill the air space behind the brace?

If that was the question, then yes, we do not offer any other solutions for this area.

I wonder if the OP's mechanic is thinking of filling the voids with structural foam...?

Was mentioned in this thread a few years ago: Mental

That's exactly it. Thanks. I thought the mechanic was nuts, but I guess the structural foam discussion was something that was discussed.

thank you all
