Rem is basically a mix of vibratory tumble and chemical polish. I'm not sure it'll really get down into the roots of the gears, but it should still get a nice polish on them. No if that would actually decrease friction and heat at all never mind $500 worth I'm not sure at all.

Oh well the course is set now. although their business is 9 hours drive away they were in town doing other collects and drop offs so kindly collected it today and say it will be ready for dual class meeting on the 6th Jan.

I'm not so sure about the REM process either though they are pretty convinced it works well in other race gearbox's. They also recommend running and oil cooler so we'll likely consider that too. Circlip mod and not let it get too hot seems to be the suggestion.

Effectively anything that remains sub mortgage the house for, seems like worth trying to retain the OEM fitment, diff ratio's and effective 2-6 ratios etc.

so breakdown of the plan is,

- Dismantle, replace bearings with high load items, blueprint synhros, circlip mod, deglaze gears and some other tidying up and reassemble
- REM gear trreatment
- Wet vapour blast clean and rezinc bolts make it look better than new
- Gearbox oil pump and cooler.

We shall see I guess......

If that doesn't resolve the issue for the OEM one I suspect nothing will bar serious money. New gearsets, dog gears etc. which they can also do....
