I'm also going off-line in a couple places because I don't like dealing with all the bumps. enough shit on my car came loose that I don't mind avoiding breaking more stuff.
I'll start taking the hairpin tighter CCW. Most of those last two sessions in CCW were guessing games considering I've never driven on this track before and we drove CW in the first 3 sessions. My fun-time on the track is not based upon outrunning anyone, its one of the few things I can do in my life to get away from daily life stress. I'm not taking the scoring all that seriously, I'm out here for fun. When it becomes too serious, I don't want to do it anymore...I already have a job to stress me out. i didn't have any bottoming out issues there either. i'm at 11.75frt.-11.75-12.0 rear depending on amount of gas in tank. but then again i don't have a giant v8, diff., and various crossmembers. |

So are you hitting shit on the track, bottoming out, or is it just a really rough ride on the bumps? Reason I ask is I am wondering about how aggressive to be with the ride height on my setup. I do not want to show up at H2R with a really low ground clearance setup and just drag parts on the track in the bumpy sections.

I'm looking forward to driving like I have grip again and not running the "Viper-line" anymore. I've had to go off line to straighten the car up to get on the pedal for a while now so I hope its fixed. I'm sure going from 1.0-2.75* camber in the front and from 1.25-2.5* camber in the rear is a start.
I think those old alignment settings made a little more sense when I was running 185mm Azenis. I've learned a lot in stages in this car, and I just realized that suspension settings mean more than anything else. I spent all my time making it mechanically reliable, now I'm trying to go fast again. |
you're already pretty fast. your getting faster every time you hit the track and like someone said, test, test, test. you should be zeroing in on a good baseline for your settings, and your car already has all the good hardware. from here on out it's just a matter of seat time. remember, no matter what anybody recommends, it's your car. a perfectly setup car may be slower to you if your not comfortable with it, or it doesn't match your driving style.

Scales would be fantastic. I thought (assumed) the ones that were in tech at MSR belonged to NASA and were a normal deal. Not so? At any rate it was great being able to check weight and F/R distribution. I'll want to look at that again as I have made some more changes to the car. MegahellastylinMiata hardware V2.0 is coming to TWS bitches. Unfortunately the software still needs work.
I may have a tire pyrometer (the probe type) at my disposal at TWS. I seriously want to get some tire temp data. We need Hustler to bring a member of his harem, appropriately clad, to do tire pyro work on hot pit (or wherever NASA allows it). OOOhhh yes baby, do it again, stick that special probe in my hot, black, round... never mind... I'd be willing to pitch in for dinner/beer/blow for whoever is willing to be a pyro monkey for the Challenge crew. |

I'll see if my silent partners will let me and spoolin bring the scales to TWS.
